Grrr. I wish there was a better way to distinguish between a warning for "character death" that means one of the main guys in the fic gets killed and "character death" that refers to, say, Boromir or Sirius getting knocked off in canon.

But that opens the whole issue can of worms about warnings and I'm not ready to get into that at the moment.

[livejournal.com profile] naotalba has been posting these interesting lists and I wanted to play too and it turns out they're from [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 so I'm going to start doing them.

What (or who) are your five favorite monsters?

1. vampires - very sexy. I've had a weak spot for Lestat since I was 14.
2. dragons in general
3. werewolves - Remus in particular. *g*
4. the Watcher outside Moria in FOTR
5. the Oogy Boogey Man from "Nightmare Before Christmas"

OOGY BOOGEY MAN! Dude, I love him. :D

Actually, from what I understand, you're only supposed to put the "character death" warning if it's not canon. Otherwise, all those Boromir fics would totally have to carry it.

hmmm... 'canon death' and 'fic death'? or 'story char. death', tho that's cumbersome.

Yeah, you know, I hate it when conventions break down, or else when really useful ones don't catch on fully. When I used to see the character death warning, I used to be able to assume it meant non-canon character death. But people warn for everything anymore, and half of them become meaningless. Agh.

I can only think of Vampires and dragons. Especially vampires. It terrifies me to die of having your blood sucked out slowly through your neck, yet, I go absolutely positively INSANE if myneck is nipped or bitten. It's practically a g-spot. And the whole attacking and sucking is so incredibly HOT. *shivers*

OoooOooooo, Lestat. Mmmm.

My number one favourite? THE KRAKEN!!!

"Hello, Beastie!" ;D

WHAT???

No Viggo as SATAN in The Prophecy?

*spanks you*

My fave monster is Keith Richards. *laughs ass off*

Actually, I'm with you on the vampires. Especially John Amplas in Martin, Klaus Kinski in Herzog's remake of Nosferatu, and Ingrid Pitt in any of her Hammer Horror films. And I thought Grace Jones was excellent in a highly cheesy way. And Bowie. He was a good vampire. And Keith Richards. No, wait, he snorts dead people; he doesn't suck them.
