alphabet soup

working on the prompts from this meme:

a - asparagus for [livejournal.com profile] heartofslash

One of my favorite veggies, and I'm lucky that living where I do, it's available and reasonably priced most of the year. I love it in Chinese/Thai/etc, but my favorite way for it to be prepared is to grill it on the BBQ, brushed with a little walnut oil, and sprinkle of salt before serving. Delicious!

b - bananas for [livejournal.com profile] aman0n

Not as useful for practicing blowjobs as movies/fics/jokes make them out to be. Too curvy and narrow to be of much use, IMO.

c - circumcision for [livejournal.com profile] bitofaspaz

I'm against circumcising infants as a practice, but I confess to never playing with a foreskin so I can't really say I have an informed opinion on which kind of penis I like better. Cut usually looks more appealing to me, but that's probably just because it's what's most familiar in my world.

d - doggies for [livejournal.com profile] nyctophobia76

Doggies! I love dogs. I don't think I ever want more than two or less than one in my life at the same time. Right now my baby dog is 10 years old and I love him more than anything.

e - egotism for [livejournal.com profile] rifleman_s

They say writers need a healthy dose of ego, but I've never felt like I had that, nor do I see much of it in my community of writerly friends, either on LJ or off. Yeah, we know we're decent or we'd have quit by now, but most of us still want to barf from nerves every time we send something off to a publisher.

f - felching for [livejournal.com profile] bitofaspaz

Thank you for making me look this up to make sure it was the sex act I thought it was. I think it's a little gross but I'd do it (if I haven't already, which I'm leaving up to your imagination while I pretend to be coy). And I'd certainly write about it, if I haven't already. And I have pornos featuring it and they're kind of dirtyhot. So felching = thumbs up. ;)

g - gasp for [livejournal.com profile] loves_bitch

Nothing sweeter than the sound of your lover gasping for breath after a screaming-the-walls-down orgasm.

h - heretic for [livejournal.com profile] cindy_dutra

The best thing about being a pagan is that you can't be chucked out for being a heretic, believing the wrong things, and be told you're going to hell. In another age, I'd have been burned at a stake by now.

i - Ianto for [livejournal.com profile] todd_loves_mc

Intriguing character; I'd still like to know more about what makes him tick, what makes him keep going. Where his stubbornness and grit come from. We don't get/I haven't seen enough to answer my questions about him, yet. Maybe in season 3...

j - John Borrowman for [livejournal.com profile] todd_loves_mc

So lovely to have an actor who is out and comfortable and proud. I hope it inspires more Hollywood types to come out of their closets, too. Even if he didn't seem like an interesting and awesome guy on his own, I'd still love him just for the role model he provides.

k - kissing for [livejournal.com profile] loves_bitch

Mmm... So under-rated, with all the other fun sexy things you can do. I still love just kissing, though, whether it's long slow sweet drugging kisses that melt your insides and leave you feeling feverish and moist, or short fierce aggressive nips and bites and licks interspersed with growls and demands for moremoremoreNOW. I want it all.

l - love for [livejournal.com profile] nyctophobia76

Love... I think one of the biggest problems women in particular face is confusing romance and love. Romantic love doesn't always last forever. It isn't always easy, and it isn't always fun. It takes work and effort and can disappear, ephemeral as a cloud, even with the best of intentions. But it can also be fierce and burn hot, and the only way to make that kind of love last is to let it cool to embers and tend them carefully.

Love is impossible to talk about without metaphors. ;)

m - manflesh for [livejournal.com profile] jassyskie

Mmm, manflesh. Thank you, orcs, for giving us that lovely word. I'm rather fond of manflesh. (Womanflesh too.) I tend to like more lean and wiry bodies than ones heavy with muscles, but there are always a few exceptions to the rule (J2). I have a particular weakness for curvy calves and strong thighs on either sex. A few other bits of flesh that I like are toe dimples, hip divots, that smooth-as-silk spot just above the ass crack, forearms, shoulders, and the furthest back corner of the jawbone. Yum!

n - nudity for [livejournal.com profile] second_banana

I vote "yes" on nudity. I've been to nude beaches and they're great so long as people (men) respect your privacy and don't ask you to rub suntan lotion on them while dangling their penis in your face. Nude hot tubbing is also nice. Being naked is a great way to get more comfortable with your body, and seeing lots of other naked, imperfect bodies is a good way to learn to appreciate that we humans come in many forms and are all beautiful.

o - Onomatopeae for [livejournal.com profile] zooniverse

Bang, squack, yelp, gargle, growl, sigh, hush, gulp, moan, mewl - where would we be without such lovely words, when writing action-filled scenes? My only question is why doesn't "onomatopia" sound like what *it* means? ;)

p - porn for [livejournal.com profile] ladykatiewench

O Porn, how I love thee.

Actually, to be totally honest, there's a lot of porn I dislike. And I do frequently have mixed-up and confused feminist feelings of exploitation and objectification and dehumanization that I *do* honestly think a lot of porn contributes to. But overall, I think sex=good, and that there's always going to be some stuff out there that squicks me, mostly made and consumed by the people who get off on sex=bad mentality. Until that time, I'm just working on my part, creating and consuming porn where nobody gets hurt and everybody's happy in the end.

q - quixotic for [livejournal.com profile] heartofslash

You know, I read Don Quixote in college and it depressed the holy fuck out of me. I always feel the word "quixotic" fails to capture that sense of melancholic detachment from reality that the novel left me with, and so it's an unsatisfying word for me.

But it has a 'q' and an 'x' in it, and that *does* make up for a lot. Especially for those of you Scrabble freaks. *g*

r - rimming for [livejournal.com profile] todd_loves_mc

Rimming - thank you QAF-UK for bringing this to mainstream culture. The great universal oral sex equalizer, bring men and women back onto the same footing. Definitely one of my favorite things to read in slash or see in porn.

s - slippers for [livejournal.com profile] autumn_witch78

I love slippers! My favorites are Haflinger wool clogs - expensive, but they last about 3 years, so it's worth it (and usually around xmas they're on sale). The arch support is awesome, and since I don't wear shoes in the house but perpetually have cold feet, I end up wearing them about 9 months of the year. Awesome, awesome, awesome footwear!

t - travel for [livejournal.com profile] nverland

I always wanted to travel a lot more than I have, so far. I want to go just about everywhere. Places I'd truly love to go are Iceland, Ireland, India, Thailand, Egypt, Morocco, Greece, Turkey, Alaska, Hawaii, Norway, Jamaica, Brazil, Zambia - almost everywhere.

There are some interesting and amazing sights in the US, of course, but we did a lot of road trips when I was a kid and I've been to a whole lot of them. And while the natural sights are definitely breathtaking, it's generally the history and sense of time that excites me, on my travels, and the USA lacks that.

u - undulate for [livejournal.com profile] nyctophobia76

Oh, how I miss belly dance. I took lessons for about 6 years, and I hate performing (mostly because of the costumes and my body image issues) but I love the movements, the sensuality, the rhythm, the flirtatiousness of the undulations and hip locks and graceful arms. I have a ton of dance workout cds and am feeling inspired to start using them again...

Plus my husband *loves* the little sharp movements and undulations that I've learned from dance. ;)

v - velvet goldmine for [livejournal.com profile] helena_s_renn

Can anything be better than Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Ewan McGregor making out? I vote no. Throw in some gorgeous makeup and costumes, some sensual rock music, and I'm ready for some Special Alone Time (tm).

w - watersports for [livejournal.com profile] rifleman_s

Oddly, this neither squicks me nor turns me on. I've read some well-written fics featuring watersports, and they kind of turned me on, but IRL? Just nothing. Not grossed out but not into it either. About as erotic as fuzzy pink socks. *shrug*

x - xerox machines for [livejournal.com profile] todd_loves_mc

For some reason this immediately triggered my memories of working as a temp and hours standing at a copy machine, making reports and things for Higher Ups. I think I've developed an aversion to them. (Maybe because I was always the only one who could replace the toner cartridges, no matter what office I worked in...)

y - yoga for [livejournal.com profile] autumn_witch78

Oh yoga. I miss it. I would feel so much better in my mind and body and bodymind if I actually did yoga 2-3 times per week, as my calendar reminds me. I just never do it. I am too lazy and too afraid of something...

Like meditation, not doing yoga is a huge source of guilt and anxiety in my life at the moment.

z - zaftig for [livejournal.com profile] lisagems

Such a good word, and yet I have some lingering sense of confusion about whether it's actually used as a compliment on curvaceousness or an insult/criticism like "plump," just another codeword for "fat."

I think we should work on reclaiming this word, now that we've reclaimed cunt and pussy and queer and dyke and witch. I'd love to have a word in common usage that meant "large and full bodied and sexy as hell." ;)

I'm thinking some/all of these would make for interesting slash writing prompts...

ETA: While these were just my idle thoughts and first-hit musings, I'm open to discussions/comments on any of these topics, FYI.

Oh thank you darling!!

E:
"... but most of us still want to barf from nerves every time we send something off to a publisher." . . . or even press "send" for that very first piece of fiction at LJ!!

W:
"I've read some well-written fics featuring watersports, and they kind of turned me on, but IRL? Just nothing."
Mmm, the fics certainly turn me on enormously, but IRL I'd always be thinking about the mess, the smell and how to clean up! *grin*

It's an interesting exercise - thanks for letting me play!

[identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
So true! I flip out whenever I crosspost a new fic anywhere but my own journal, or for new fandoms, or if it's just different in some way... So about 75% of the time. ;)

There's not much I can add to the watersports conversation without TMI-ing, but I've done enough investigation that I know it's an activity best left in fics, for me. *g*

[identity profile] lisagems.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
Zaftig! There are probably people out there who use it as an insult, but that's not what it is. It means stacked, curvy, zaftig. And you are zaftig!

[identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehehe! I like it - I vote for using it a lot more often. Thank you for bringing this lvoely word to my attention. :)
