Pet peeve of the day:
People, BREATHE is the verb. BREATH is a noun. You do not lie in bed and listen to your beloved breath. I know spell-check doesn't catch it. That's why you use a beta.

Please, for the love of god, USE A BETA, no matter how great you are. Everyone occasionally misses their own typos.

Good weekend. Went through mountains and mountains of photos from my great aunt, which finished off the last of her 'stuff'. Now my mom just has to come and visit and go through it, and then I get to deal with getting rid of all the stuff she doesn't want either. What a joy that will be.

Also, I went through every drawer in my desk, threw away -3- grocery bags full of papers, articles, clippings, cards, other recyclable papers. I can't believe I had so much crap. I had papers from 1991 in there.

Went to a belly dance show. Saw a lovely friend, a very sexy girl, and a male belly dancer.

The male belly dancer, combined with listening to Cake's cover of "I could never be your woman", made a plot bunny bite me. NO NO NO NO. I will NOT write Orli-in-drag NOR will I write Orli-the-belly-dancer-entertaining-King-Viggo. NO NO NO NO. I will not write AUs.

Well.

Maybe.

I'm testing out adding people as friends. Please don't be upset if I friend you and then unfriend you a few times as I try to get into a habit of checking LJ more often, and then feeling overwhelmed, and then trying again. It's not personal.

Heh. The second plotbunny sounds really interesting...

Thanks. I think it sounds far too much like something I think [livejournal.com profile] lostiawen is working on, and she'd do a much better job anyway, so I won't pursue it.

It was just a lovely visual in my head, not really a story... That long, lean body, gold wrist and arm bracelets, an open embroidered vest, harem pants split up the sides, all that dark honeyed skin, lots of gold coins, kohl-rimmed eyes, graceful and sinuous movements........

*clear throat*

You... evil... wow.

*heart failure*

Well then, my work here is done. *g*

Here here!

Or is it "Here! Here!"? Or "Here, here!"?

I need my beta!

I know this post is old, but you might be interested in reading my rant (http://www.livejournal.com/users/puterpatty/44510.html#cutid1) on beta'ing.

I'm so right there with you on the need for betas. I find it appalling the things people will post to Yahoo!Groups or their LJs... Come on people, is the state of education in your country so bad that you think this is polished? Did you even read it after you typed it?

It's one thing to say "Hey, this is rough, but I thought I'd share it anyway" and another to claim "betaed by BADBETA who is so gr8". It just makes me think really bad things about BADBETA.

Than again, every time I get my knickers in a twist about this sort of thing, I try to remind myself that there are better things to occupy my mind.

Such as GOOD VigOrli fics. :)
