music recs please

Flist! I need your recs again! :)

I'm sick of most of the songs on my exercise playlist. They're good songs, but I've been using the same playlist for a number of years now and am in desparate need of new music ideas. Here is what I've been listening to:

playlist

Recs do not need to be for new music - you'll notice that most of those are from around 2007ish, but some far older and a few are newer. Help please? Save my workouts from getting boring, just as I'm feeling committed to having a more Avengers-worthy body!

NB - Also, as a side note to all the writers who keep getting it wrong: Clint Barton is 41, not 32. Or at least the hottie who plays him is, as are the rest of the others - 30s and 40s. Even Natasha is 27. So there. :P

I like your taste in music. I was gonna rec the killers but I see they are already on there. However I like Human and Read my mind as well cause they are more fast paced songs.

I'll trade out the songs I have and add those. :) thanks!

I'd recommend the music from the Drive soundtrack, if only because everything sounds more epic with that playing. It's not especially upbeat though, so that could be an issue.

Alan Silvestri's Avengers theme from the movie is my alarm tone in the morning, always encourages me to get out of bed, so could possibly work for a work out too. It almost sounds like the kind of music you'd hear during a training montage. (Also Bad City's Fight As One, haha).

Avenged Sevenfold are my go-to for life. Lost, Danger Line, Unholy Confessions, Not Ready To Die and Nightmare should all fit a workout playlist. Danny Elfman's The Little Things is a pretty good workout track too.

Honestly, with so many ideas, you'd think I actually exercised!

Hm, I'll check out thouse soundtracks - haven't listened to them (outside watching the movie, of course).

I think I have some Avenged Sevenfold - I'll add them too. Thanks!

ALso - nice JDM icon! :)

Are you open to any type of music? Your taste seems to lean more toward the rockier stuff. I'm very much a pop fan though so I'm not sure if anything I rec will mesh well.

[identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com 2012-08-18 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm good with pop too - anything bouncy is good for a workout. Mostly, I tend to listen to whatever's on the radio. :) I'd love your suggestions!

Warning - everyone likes to inform me that my musical taste is horrible so I won't be offended if none of these work for you:

Enrique Iglesias - "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)"
Ke$ha - "Tik Tok"
Katy Perry - "Peacock"
Nicki Minaj - "Starships"
Coldplay - "Viva La Vida" (possibly)
Spice Girls - "Wannabe"
The Ting Tings - "That's Not My Name"
Take That - "Kidz"
Beyonce - "Single Ladies"
Ellie Goulding - "Lights"
Whitney Houston - "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"
Queen - "Don't Stop Me Now"
Maroon 5 - "Moves Like Jagger"
LMFAO - Sexy And I Know It
Rihanna - We Found Love
Taio Cruz - Dynamite
Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child
Kelly Clarkson - "My Life Would Suck Without You"
One Direction - "Na Na Na" (or most songs by them actually. They're a boyband so most of their tracks are rather upbeat.)
Lady Gaga - "Born This Way" or "Bad Romance" (she's another one with a lot of songs with consistent beats.)

I think that's it for now. I hope at least a couple might work for you.

Cool - I'll give those a listen! :)

I'm not going to rec you all the heavy and doomy metal I listen to since you like rockier stuff. :P

Firstly, new band that has a first single available for a listen (more to follow soon): http://www.facebook.com/pages/COLOUR-OF-BONE/222088664501853 If you're interested to see what their potential is, here's a link to my playlist of the front man's previous band (not that easy to find the old songs anywhere else): http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9640B4775560E8D5&feature=mh_lolz

Then.. Mellow stuff but very beautiful: Mazzy Star http://youtu.be/uiEouyRrWII and Portishead: http://youtu.be/g2lhOPjLEfk

Other than that, hmm.. Placebo? Suede? Joy Division! The Smiths! Okay, I'll stop now before I name every band I like.

[identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com 2012-08-18 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Heheh - I like/know some of those bands too, just haven't used them for exercising. I'll give your suggestions a try! Thanks!

You need some K'naan on there!

The World Cup remixes of "Wavin' Flag" are often danceable, "This is Africa TIA" is one of my fave songs ever, and he's got this great new song "You Can Hurt Me Tomorrow" that's got a relaxed groove, perfect for warming up or cooling down.

[identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com 2012-08-18 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
HUh, I'll check him out. I've only heard that one song. :)

If you're pretty well open to any music. I myself have Bon Jovi Keep The Faith Unbreakable are just a few that I listen to. I also listen to 3 Doors Down Champion In Me And there is one from the Avengers soundtrack Comeback is the song, but can't remember who it's by.

[identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com 2012-08-18 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
COol - thanks for the suggestions! I have a secret and abiding Bon Jovi love.

Good thing I read my reply over just now, I was in a hurry and left out huge chunks of what I meant to say. O.o

Before the mellow recs I was gonna say that those are for the post workout relaxation and stretching, they're too good not to pimp so I had to include them. :p

Placebo I can't underline enough, most of their fast songs get me in an energetic mood. Good music to power walk to etc.

Have you heard Stone Sour? Also has a good rythm to the music, the guitars make it sound like the music to punch buildings to.

Black Sabbath's Iron Man, there's an Avengers song for you. :p

[identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com 2012-08-18 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Hahah - can just see myself working out to Iron Man. *g*

I do like Placebo, and I'll check out Stone Sour. :)
