Jun. 4th, 2003 12:57 pmFinished re-reading HP books 1 and 2... 16 days until book 5. Have been noticing odd things, though I by no means think I am unique in my thoughts:
Harry lies ALL THE TIME, even when he doesn't really have any good reason to be hiding the truth. He's such a smart-ass and has no respect for authority. And he's far more brave than anyone raised in a cupboard ought to be.
Ron's more aggressive and quick to anger than I remembered.
Hermione isn't as goody-two-shoes perfect as I had thought; she actively coerces the boys into the polyjuice potion, and doesn't tell anyone what she's discovered before leaving the library.
Draco unfortunately doesn't seem at all confused or manipulated or un-evil, so far.
Snape, well... I note they describe the hair and the nose, but no one says he's ugly or thin or anything yet... Just mean and baised... And oh so sexy with the wit and the voice and the swooping... *weak knees*
I'm impressed at how many of the little details I'd forgotten that other fanfic writers include in their stories...
cybele_san's IYAP in particular.
They're still only 12 years old though, so maybe there will be a bit more depth of character revealed in my re-readings of 3 and 4... I was surprised at how much I'd forgotten.
Going on a 5-day holiday local-ish: Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Hearst Castle, hiking in Big Sur... And best of all I managed to convince my sweetie to let us stay in a B&B in Cambria called the Squibb House. *g*
And I'm feeling fairly inspired lately and hopefully will return with an outline of VS2 or at least some more ideas in my head. Even wrote a dorky little 2-line poem this morning.
Anyone speak fluent French?
maruchina maybe? Help? I'm looking for the French version of an Albert Camus quotation...
