For [livejournal.com profile] ennorwen Top 5 "real" d/s fiction stories or top 5 favorite D/s fanfiction pairings.

Well. I still can't choose, so I'll do both lists:

Top 5 favorite "real" d/s stories

1. "The Surprise Party", Macho Sluts - Pat Califia
2. "Joined," In the Dark - Zoe Le Verdier
3. "The Dozen Kisses," Yellow Silk - Pond and Russo, eds.
4. Beauty's Release - A.N. Roquelaure
5. Exit to Eden - Anne Rice

That was actually really difficult. I don't have much in the way of in-print bdsm fiction, although a lot of novels I have do have kind of kinky themes.

Top 5 fanfic d/s pairings

1. Jeffrey Dean Morgan/Jensen Ackles/Jared Padalecki - any combination
2. Harry/Snape/Draco - also any combo
3. Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan
4. Jack/Ianto
5. Lupin/Snape/Black - any combo

And thank you for not making me pick my top 5 fanfic stories, as that would have KILLED ME DED. There are way too many good ones to choose. ;)

For [livejournal.com profile] uinendolothen who asked: What book/film/song (or top two or three if one is too limiting!) has impacted your life the most? Not necessarily that it's your most favorite but that it has a deeper meaning for you - that something about it just speaks to your soul.

I'm going to stick with books, just to narrow the field a little bit.

Madeline L'Engle's "Wrinkle in Time" and two sequels were enormously influential in getting me to think about science and life and spirituality, and how they all intersect, rather than religion. That was a very big thing for me, growing up Catholic, and the lessons I learned from it have lasted forever.

Harvey Firestein's "Torch Song Trilogy" came to me at a time when the town I lived in was very much of the "AIDS is God's punishment to queers" mentality. It made me stop and think, to see *people* rather than *Others*. It also struck a chord in me of feeling like an outsider and being lonely for want of love. In 9th grade I knew nothing about queer culture or issues, and it was a very gut-wrenching book/movie/play for me.

I could go on and on, of course. Others that spring to mind for spiritual development are "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" and "The Kin of Ata Are Waiting for You." Anne Rice's first two vampire books got me interested in European history. "The Hitchiker's Guide" introduced me to witty humor. Those are all books I remember from 7-10th grade that got me thinking in new ways. :)

So I was answering the question about books and I remembered that decades ago I had a long list of "favorite books" posted to my user profile at school.

Guess what I found lurking on my hard drive? It's that special kind of embarrassing/amusing youthful pretentiousness:

1. Off tomorrow morning for Thanksgiving madness. And possibly without internet, although I'm taking my laptop to do work and crossing my fingers. Who knows, maybe I'll actually get a lot done without LJ to distract me.

2. But I love LJ! *clings* I love all of you. You're all so awesome and I'm so grateful for your friendship and love and support and fangirly acceptance and welcoming hearts. And for the porn. I'm very grateful for the boysexin' slashy stories and pictures.

3. I made apple pie. Mmmm.... Pie.

4. We're going on a tour of a creamery/cheesemaker on Friday. How much do I love that this is what my in-laws are into for family fun? A lot.

5. I keep forgetting to say how much I adore my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas assignment. I got it and within 10 minutes had a ginormous plotbunny land in my lap. The only tricky part will be keeping it shortish, but I think I can write part one for the fest and continue more of it later. It's pornilicious. :)

6. I leave for a MONTH IN LONDON IN 12 DAYS!!! I am so disorganized! Ack! How will I ever et everything done????

7. My antidepressants are still making me tried and woozy and unable to focus and today I had a huge anxiety attack. But I think I am maybe a little less depressed. Maybe.

8. I am way behind on real email that demands brain to reply to. I am so sorry to those of you who I owe email to, and I feel bad for doing comments and LJ posts and not writing real mail, but I am so unfocused and you deserve more of me than I can muster up right now. Maybe I will print them out and type up replies this weekend. Sorry.

9. Dog snoring beside my desk = happiness

10. J2 makes me swoon. Always. :)
