It's one of those days that I could have a little whine and a moan (thank you Lily Allen), so instead:

5 Good Things

1. Lower back has healed enough from throwing it out last Friday that I went to Jazzercize last night and didn't get hurt.

2. The monthly Ladies' NaughTea tea party is at my houseon Sunday. Think fine china, lace table cloths, and the family silver - everything all proper and formal - but with porno movies in the background, decadent treats, and a request to wear your naughtiest lingerie and perhaps let the hostess take a peek. :)

3. Had a brilliant brainstorm for my [livejournal.com profile] ficrocksthe80s story. I hope I can do it justice in the time I have left.

4. Lots of new free boyporn from LJ friends.

5. All the doggie love a girl could want, 24/7, from the best dog ever.

Again, I encourage everyone reading this (*especially* if you feel like crap) to come up with 5 good things and post them to your blog. You really *will* feel a tiny bit better afterward, I promise.

Next up - [livejournal.com profile] uinendolothen tagged me with this:

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

white light! white light!- I can't even remember which movie this was from, but it's from one of the LOTR extra bits, I think, where Orlando talks about getting a friendly head-butt that was hard enough it had him seeing stars. He was such a fragile little flower. *g*

porn and chocolate - I have no idea where this is from, but I think it was an interview or something with Dom and Billy teasing Elijah about getting totally drunk, going into a liquor store with them, and demanding "porn and chocolate." It's a good story, and hey, I LOVE porn AND chocolate, so I nabbed it.

folklore - I've always adored folklore, both from a sitting-and-listening POV and from an academic one. It's fascinating to see what kinds of stories cultures create and keep around to entertain, teach, and preserve their history. At one point I would have said "mythology" but I tend toward the liberal PC and prefer the term "folklore", which doesn't have such a superior moral connotation. Plus, who doesn't like a good story?

history - My undergrad degree is in Medieval European History, and my emphasis was from about 300-1200 C.E., Northern Europe. I wrote my thesis on the introduction of Christianity to Iceland in about 900-1000. All of which means that I'm a big old geek, but not about the things that even most history geeks are interested in. I loathe American history and know almost nothing about anything that happened after the French Revolution. For a long time I wanted to get a PhD in history and be a professor, but then life happened. Now it's just a hobby.

tea - My love affair with tea can be linked directly back to a cold morning in London, the first morning of my first visit to the UK, and my British friend saying "What do you mean you don't like tea? It's got milk and sugar in. Here, try it." And I did, and it was delicious, and every sip ever since then brings me that little hint of memory and a sense of comfort and welcome.

herbalism - I like playing with herbs, both from a healing perspective and a magical one. I like using them to make food, bath and body products, perfumes, incense, and magical fires. I like knowing their medicinal uses, their folklore and history, alternative names, symbolism. I just really like plants, I guess.

remus lupin - Oh Remus, how do I love thee? I can't say he's my favorite character, but Remus is totally tied with Severus and Harry and Draco as my all-time favorite four. He's a study of contradictions, wild savagery and academic repression, control and surrender and practicality and denial. Although JKR has said he represents people with a disability or something like that, to me Remus represents the shunned and hated 10% of the population who just happens to be gay. He's tragic and lonely and brilliantly smart and kind and loyal and smoking-hot sexy - who doesn't want to rush in there and cuddle him the day after a transformation? It also doesn't hurt that David Thelweis sometimes makes me weak in the knees, although not in the HP movies so much. *My* Remus doesn't have facial scars or a bad 1970s pornstache.

Thank the stars for you!! I knew "white light! white light!" and "porn and chocolate" were familiar ... phrases I ought to know, but I couldn't for the life of me remember why! Now I can. :)

Didn't Sala get goaded by Viggo into headbutting Orlando? Maybe?

And I now remember Elijah on Leno talking about "porn and chocolate!"

Oooh, tea ... every morning in Dublin, I had tea with breakfast at teh B&B we stayed it. It was wonderful!

See, I was right. It was interesting to hear your thoughts. :)

Yay for less lower back pain! Your monthly Ladies' NaughTea tea party sounds like a lot of fun; what a great idea.

All the doggie love a girl could want, 24/7, from the best dog ever.
That sounds like the best "good thing."

"White light. White light" is definitely from TTT extras on the extended edition. I love that story. I hadn't heard the porn and chocolate thing; I guess I better hunt up some Elijah interview clips to hear this one.

We have a ton of fun at the tea parties - it's a chance to do girly stuff, and try to be naughty so it doens't get too prim and proper. ;)

In the comment ahead of yours, Unien said where the Elijah clip was from. GOod luck!
