Dear Women At Work,

There is an awful lot of negativity spewing from your mouth. Did you ever stop to wonder if maybe your relentless devotion to all that is wrong perhaps prevents you from seeing what is good or right in your life?

No one is bleeding. No one is hurt. No one is dying. For the moment, your bills are covered. Each one of you has at least one fabulous pet or kid or partner.

I'm all for "venting" but not 24/7. Smell the roses. Breathe. Stop talking if you don't have anything interesting or amusing to say. When you start to "vent", try to say something else instead. Boy, the weather is nice. I love your dress today. That coffee smells good.

Many things may be beyond your control, but enjoy the ones that are. Because you're totally harshing my mellow, dudes.

;)

They say that we use more muscles in our faces to frown than it does to smile. Yet, so few of us smile during the work day. I'd say, in this day, that if these women have a job at all is a good reason to smile! My husband (ex husband, really) was out of work for six months and, believe me, there wasn't a lot of smiling going on there. I worked hard to keep up his confidence, but it was hard times. Sometimes if we 'act as if' things were good, then after a while, we'll truly believe it. These women need to take a reality check and start being grateful for what they have and stop stepping on your happiness!

Sometimes I think bitching is the national past time. "Harshing my mellow." LOL.

I agree with everything except "that coffee smells good", 'cause I'm a mutant and coffee smells bad to me. But, it's all good I only have to smell it once a day, then it's over.

Ride the mellow. ride the mellow.

It is crazy how negative people can be when they wonder why nobody likes them. I am not perfect, but I do what you suggested about complimenting people, and I do it all of the time. Telling someone that I like their dress, or ask if they did something new to their hair, that I love their laugh or their smile. Every single time that I do that, the person on the other side is so full of gratitude and it makes them feel wonderful. But not nearly as wonderful as it makes me feel to sincerely find something to compliment other people about.

And if I can't come up with something, then I at least try to smile, the kind that is on your mouth and you can see it in your eyes too.

Going with this program sure makes it easier for me to try to live my life as one of Gratitude instead of dwelling on the problems that I do have.

What do they say? It isn't your problems or situation that defines who you are, it is how you deal with them.

Sounds like these ladies really need to hear this for real. Don't you wish you could make them read this and take note?

The funny thing is, they're not being that negative about work, per se. More like their pets, their partners, kids, family, health issues, insurance claims, car, etc etc etc. But yes, they're grouchy bitches about work whenever anyone does something they think is wrong, even if it turns out not to be.

Anyway, I made a sincere effort to be smiley yesterday and *I* had a better day. :)

Yay! I needed that reminder - it really is amazing how grateful people are and how happy one small compliment can make them.

It's difficult to learn gratitude, I think, and difficult to remember it again the next time life tosses some more shit your way. But when I do get back into it everything improves much faster, all because of my attitude.

I lvoe that quote. Thank you. :) *hugs*

May I compliment you again, on how fabulous you looked in your amazing bra that you posted the pictures of your 'girls'? Are you enjoying that bra still? Comfy?

Thank you! Yes, it is shockingly comfy, as is the other one I bought the same day, which I wore yesterday. It's amazing how comfortable those bras are for my DDD boobs. The fact that they look good also is just the icing on the cake. Or lace on the bra, maybe. ;)
