bucket list - viking explorer trip

Forty is approaching and while it's not really old, I think it might be time to start keeping a Bucket List, just do I don't forget all the wacky things I'd like to do someday. Plus, I'm a firm believer that if you have a plan, and send out that desire, you can usually make it happen.

I was reminded of this one today by a friend's pictures of her trip to Scotland and Skye:

I've always wanted to take a series of ferries from Scotland to the Hebrides, Orkneys, and Shetlands, Faroes, and then to Iceland.

On a viking longship would be awesome. :)



I should see if there are tour companies that do that and how much it would cost...

That sounds like lots and lots of fun. But it also sounds COLD!! So, I'm hoping you are able to do it and have a blast! But I'm stayin' here!! (do you see now why I can't do cold? My whole world is heat)

With cold, you can always bundle up and snuggle. With hot, once you're naked, there's nothing else you can do and sex seesms way too much trouble. Blech. :P

I don't think age matters at all when it comes to a bucket list. I started one when I was 22 or 23 I think. It's a good thing to have around. Goals are always a good thing after all, even if they are years off from being completed.

I had no idea you could go on a Viking trip! I'm adding this to my list too. It must be an amazing thing to experience. Shame they don't do the longboats anymore though.

I used to have a list of palces I wanted to go and things I wanted to see there... I have no idea where it is now - it was one of those things you do to occupy your brain during boring lectures in school.

I have always had a problem balancing the idea of a general-goal list and an OMG-I-MUST-DO-THESE-THINGS list. While I need to trust that I won't forget things, I also need to have specifics in mind, so I don't forget them when opportunities open up. I think the bucket list will help. :)

It is a shame about the longboats... I bet if one was willing to throw a heap of money at it, you could get one made and chartered, though... Hmmm... ;)
