Two free plot bunnies, born of my frustration reviewing submissions:

1) I am sick of reading gruesome stories about clones and the awful things people do them. Please, someone, write me a story about clones and how nice it would be to treat them well!

2) You know that first boyfriend in all the stories, who wears glitter and flounces around and isn't all that into the main character, not out of spite but because he's a ditz and the main character can do so much better? I want to see his story, the flouncing, glittery ditz. Make me love him. :)

And please, for the love of god, no more werewolves and vampires, unless you've got an outstandingly unique twist...

Brick and Mortar bookstore employee here. I am in so much agreement with your last sentence. We really need a break from the SF/Fantasy/Romance/Fiction/New Age/Fiction book about werewolves and/or vampires (and/or zombies). And as a follower of fandom, I can also get behind your point #2. (Though usually it's the author trying to get me to hate on the poor ex that really annoys me.)

Can't say I've run across too many clone stories. (I'm guessing this is purely your online business - not fandom - turning up this particular excess.) Though for the ones that come to mind (mostly old or very old movies or tv episodes) the clones didn't fare well. Of course, if you count 'projections' (as mental clones?), Inception fandom has a few very happy-making clone stories. ;-)

Clones show up in SGA occasionally, but it's really movies and original fiction where I get the most exposure to them. Blech. I am amused by the idea of projections as clones - I'll remmeber that next time I get creeped out.

Writers need to be seriosuly steer clear of "trends". Then again, maybe readers need to be a little mroe picky too...
