I didn't mean to start reading so much SW:TPM/Ep.1 slash... I just have an unfortunate weakness for teacher-student relationships that get sexual. And kinky. Mmmm..... Yeah.

And I'm not even that into SW, really, since my husband is going to the midnight show and I am sleeping diagonally on the bed and using his pillow. HAHHAHAHAHHA! :D

But I'm going to get caught up on Orli fics soon, I promise. I will not permanently fall under the spell of the Dark Side.. I just like to dip my toes into something new every once in a while, you know?

1) Total number of books owned?

As I said, 1152

2) The last book I bought?

"Madame Curie: A Biography" by Eve Curie (for my book club) and I also ordered the new Harry Potter book at the same time

3) The last book I read?

"life, the Universe, and Everything" by Douglas Adams -- re-reading the series.
Last first-time through book I read was "Busman's Honeymoon" by Dorothy Sayers.

4) Five books that mean a lot to me.

Only 5? Ok, well they're not in any particular order, and there are other books that mean a lot to me, but what I can remember off the top of my head, are these. They all altered my life in some way:

1. "The Vampire Lestat" by Anne Rice - I read this at 13 and it was the first bit of homoerotic fiction I came across. That, combined with the way Anne Rice made history come alive for me, gives this book a special place in my head despite it being kind of pulp-fiction-ish.

2. "The Kin of Ata Are Waiting for You" by Dorothy Bryant - The first new-agey philosophical fiction I ever read, about reality and dreams and how to live your life and how humankind is meant to live together.

3. "The Tao of Pooh" by Benjamin Hoff - The combination of humor and Taoism with Winnie ther Pooh is just brilliant.

4. "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden" by Joanne Greenberg - I've read a lot of books about women with mental illnesses, and this one has always resonated with me the most, as being the most like where I could end up, if I just let go of reality a bit more...

5. the original 14 "Wizard of Oz" books by L. Frank Baum - He created a world that was both fantastic and wonderful, frightening and strange, but old-fashioned enough to be familiar and comforting. I have always and will always love these books.

And I read all five of those books before I turned 18...
