I am so paranoid to say anything on LJ now, in case I make some grammar error. Maybe I shouldn't have posted, so I could continue to be imperfect and flawed and not be a hypocrite.

*le sigh*

Seriously though - I'm not perfect. I screw things up all the time. I use adverbs like they're going out of style. The incorrect use of apostrophes is just one of those visual things that massively throws me off when I'm reading an otherwise good story.

I am happy to beta (unless I'm tremendously busy) and I know lots of other people are, too. There is no reason not to use a beta or proof-reader -- no one is perfect. It is difficult to spot your own mistakes.

I DO think everyone posting their own grammar pet-peeves would be a great thing to do. I'd even be willing to link them all together on my website or LJ memories or something, for use as a resource.

It's also a learning opportunity -- I learned that some languages don't have apostrophes. And looking up the rules clarified things for me, even though I already knew what was correct.

Seriously thought - I'm not perfect.

*giggles softly*

But NO ONE is perfect...and you're damn cute, so don't worry about it.

We all have our grammar pet peeves; we all have specific things that drive us straight up the wall and across the ceiling, and I think it's fine to vent in your own LJ. :)

Plus, you're super cool--you just graduated!!

*snugs you*

*dies laughing* God I'm an idiot. :) See how not perfect I am? *corrects spelling*

*smooch* I miss talking to you - how are things?

Oh, no, I totally get ya. It's one thing not to worry about one's grammar when writing informally in one's journal (and terribly cheap of people to attack grammar mistakes in regular conversation online, btw - don't feel like you have to be anal about writing properly in your own journal!), but it's another thing altogether to be so sloppy with one's fic that readers are jolted by the errors. I'll just never understand the attitude of authors who can't be arsed to learn something approximating proper English and who don't see anything wrong with being sloppy. 'Tis a pet peeve many of we readers have ;)

Yay - validation for being sloppy sometimes but anal about fics that are posted. :) Thank you!

[livejournal.com profile] photograce says I'm a Grammar Nazi. It's my professional training - I'm an editor! And a languages major! I can't HELP it!

But I can be polite.

My worst peeves are apostrophes. People can't use them to save their lives anymore. (sigh)

Biggest pet peeves? Bad apostrophes and use of epithets. Ewwwww.

was too busy being drunk last night. :) Besides, my Boundaries muses and the whipped cream fic ones have hijacked all of my time. Damnit.
