I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.
But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes office supplies."
I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.
In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer.
Guh, what a weekend... Trying to be positive though, so let's just say that I'm glad it's over, it was nice to see some friends, and I'm thrilled that
heartofslash liked her fic. :)

Date: 2005-07-11 07:03 pm (UTC)Think I found you and your fic through Lostiawen and some stories you wrote with her...loved Educational Endeavors, but my favorite is most likely Banana Treatment...I'm a fool for smutty humor. And found you on LJ just today:-)
I'm trying to think of something that isn't boring to tell you...I love to travel, and have been lucky enough to been to a lot of wonderful places, I have a family that drives me insane...single with no plans or need to marry or have children...work with computers at a company that mostly does work for the US federal government...ok...so I didn't succeed at finding something interesting..
I read and write...both slash and het, though no one seems to read the het anymore...as long as Orlando is there, I'll usually read it. I'm told I have a good sense of humor and am quite sarcastic...so take whatever I say with a grain of salt...
as for a question for you...tell me anything...I'm not picky

Tell you anything... I just totally aced a job interview, but I don't think I would accept the job, unless they take on at least $3000 more annually.

Date: 2005-07-11 09:01 pm (UTC)Let's see, I'll think of something really weird... I once had a dream in which I had dressed sex with Michael Jackson on a bridge (but that was 20 years ago, so he hadn't had nearly as much plastic surgery - now I can't even look at a picture of him because he gives me the heebiejeebies!)Oh, yeah, totally related to my MJ phobia - I'm scared of clowns, but I think it's just the preternaturally white, smooth face that does me in, becuase I will NOT be able to go see Johnny Depp's new movie - the stills spook me!
Now, what do I want to know?
Crunchy or smooth peanut butter? And on whom would you most like to spread said peanut butter so you can lick it off? (no husbands allowed!)

arguedebate with, hopefully reasonably attractive, intelligent and very talented in the sack.Enough or TMI? *giggles*
What can I ask you???????? If you were to meet any famous person dead/alive to have a conversation with - not including Viggo or Orlando because most people would accept that as a given, who would it be and why?

Date: 2005-07-11 10:58 pm (UTC)This is a great little post. I think I'm gonna take it too, but....for now...
I've just turned 22 years old, but I just now feel 21. I'm going into my fourth and final year of Uni at the Univeristy of Michigan-Ann Arbor where I'm an English and Drama major. I was going to major in French, but opted not to after I realised I didn't want to teach it as a living. I mainly do Eng to satisfy the parentals and the Drama is for myself. I spent last year studying Drama in London and I came back exactly one month ago tomorrow, though it seems like forever ago. I'm in AZ now, but I was born in LA and I hope to go back no more than a few months after I graduate. I'm not a big AZ fan. Its so damned hot here!
I bite the hell outta my nails, I love slash, i think photos of Orly looking silly are super cool, I have been told by an educational-physcologist that I have the spelling abilities of a 13 year old, and when I finally come to rule the free world I shall appoint you as the head librarian to my much-coveted slash fiction archives. Promise!

Hmmm.... I would love to have a chat with Mae West, one of my all-time favorite wanton hussies. Sexy, witty, and curvy, her smart mouth and one-liners like "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?" make me certain that she's be fun to talk to. At a time when the world was trying to be wholesome and pure, she was bawdy and honest, and I will always lover her for that. (more one liners, if you're interested (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0922213/bio))

Date: 2005-07-12 05:26 am (UTC)Hmm. I once had sex in a luggage room on the Hibernia ferry between Wales and Ireland.
Or, when I was 15 I was a volunteer tour guide at Naper Settlement, a living museum. I dressed up in a frilly white blouse, a violet skirt with a bustle, and a shawl and pretended to live in a 1889-era mansion that had a ghost named Charlotte.
I also turned down an offer from Harvard to do my EdD with them.
So, now you know I am a nerdy, geeky slut. LOL.

Date: 2005-07-12 05:42 am (UTC)I'm very involved in a lot of projects, especially for non-profits and I tend to overbook myself and then feel that I'm not doing anything well enough or on time enough and get down on myself for that even when it's not true. Sort of an "own worst enemy thing".
I love about a gazillion things - art, architecture, archeology, gardening, pets, nature, travel, hiking, photography, making soap, ceramics, my non-profits etc - so I would be surprised if you and I don't have something else in common besides slash. If we don't, you could consider taking up something, because if I take up one more thing, my head will explode and that would be very, very messy.
My brother is moving to your city.
Question for you? Hmmmm... Naughty or nice? OK, how about nice...
What, besides slash, do you love?

Date: 2005-07-12 08:07 am (UTC)About myself? Hmm. Dunno. I could give factual responses about myself, but those aren't necessarily the things that mean much to me. So I'll give you a general life response that applies as much to fandom as real life: I'm an affectionate creature, kinda like a spaniel in many ways. I love easily (but am also hurt easily, after which, though I'll forgive, I will never trust again). And if one is able to gain my trust, then they've found a fiercely loyal friend for life.
About you *g* I'm going to cheat here and ask a two-fold question ;) What do you look for from your flist, and what on your flist can turn you off?

Date: 2005-07-12 08:15 am (UTC)um i friended you via the friending frenzy thing (i think, yeah i've got a shitty memory. see? one thing about me already) anyway i (think i) did that because i remembered that when i first discovered what slash was in lotrfps and rps and stuff i remembered reading some of your stuff. and omg. yeah. the stories stuck with me y'know :P
anyway, everything i can tell you is boring, because i find myself boring, but here goes..
i'm 19, going to study in the National University of Singapore (uhm. I live in Singapore) I've no idea what I want to major in, but it should probably be along the lines of English or Psychology or Economics.
I hate the heat. which is why i'm so damned tempted to migrate out of Singapore when i am financially stable and all. it's like fucking eternal summer here. the coldest it gets is in december with a temperature of maybe 24 - 26 degrees at night. YEAH. i'm not kidding. i wanna go somewhere where it's nice and cold and freezing. i first discovered slash and fandom last year, and it was just lotr for me all the way.
i'm single and living with my parents though not for long now. and i used to work (school is starting next month and my exams ended last november so thats a 8 month long break i had) as a secretary and a part time beauty advisor (read: salesgirl) at Lancome. yeaaaaah that's about it. i think

Date: 2005-07-12 10:53 am (UTC)I'm older than you. I'm a grammar school teacher and I'm totally into that. My friend and I are just building this house together, which is a moderate semi-detached but means the world to us. In a way it means that I'm very satisfied with my life and want it to go on as it is, please. The house symbolises that.
Something to make you think of me - I love my car. It's a bright blue PT Cruiser, so when you see one, you can think arrow! from now on, if you want.
I love music. I used to play classical guitar and have started to learn the piano a few years ago. I also sing alto in a choir. My favourite composer is Bach as I grew up with him. I totally love The Beatles and Paul McCartney, hence my name. (Ooh baby, you couldn't have done a worse thing to me / if you'd have taken an arrow and run it right through me)
Now the questions for you. Of all your possessions, and I mean material things, nothing alive, what means the most to you and why? And if you could lead your ideal life, what would a normal day look like?

Things I love -- my husband, dog, chocolate, the redwood forest, cliff/beaches in winter, old-fashioned roses, the scent of lilacs on a tree, ripe peaches, belly dancing, drippy candles, hiking the day after a gentle rain, waterfalls...
Wow - that was an excellent exercise. Thank you for prompting me to remember such wonderful things. :)

Puppy! What kind? Pictures?
My favorite toy as a kid... Well, books aren't a toy, so let me think... I had a Fisher-Price plastic castle set (http://joeandbeckystoybox.westhost.com/favorites.html) that I adored. (It's "vintage" - My GOD, I'm old. :P )

Date: 2005-07-12 10:46 pm (UTC)Hmm... I look for fics and pics and recs, and some celebrity gossip, but not too much cattiness or negativity about who might be dating whom. I'm interested in people's real lives, but not so interested in the trauma and drama of teenagers (and a few older folks who ought to know better *cough*). I like getting to know people and finding out we have more in common than just thinking about pretty boys fucking.
Turn offs - cattiness about celebrities and their girlfriends/beards (tin-hatters are fine), BNF-wanky-flames, un-cut posts about how much things suck (I *am* sympathetic, especially once I've gotten to know people, but sometimes it's a bit over the top or too often), and *whispers* too many pictures of cats (and by that I mean more than once a day).

Lately I have been interested in more classical guitar music - do you have any recommendations? I hear it on the radio sometimes and think "oh, I like that" but don't know who or what to buy... I quite like Bach, too. :)
Possessions - I have a small suitcase filled to overflowing with every diary I've ever had since I was about 9 years old. To me, it means that early on I decided I wanted to be a writer and have always kept coming back to that... My wedding ring also means a lot to me, but that's a long story. ;)
A normal day in my ideal life: Sleep in until ~8am. Yoga. Breakfast of toast and tea, perhaps an egg. Writing until noon. Light lunch. Dog takes me for a walk. House/garden stuff. Reading/research. Perhaps more writing. Dinner. An hour of television cuddling/laughing with my husband. Wildmonkeysex. Sleep.
Interspersed with some travel and maybe some workshops... But if I were a bajillionaire, I think that's what the average day at home would look like. :)

Date: 2005-07-12 11:58 pm (UTC)Speech Pathology is where you learn about speech and hearing disorders. I am planning right now to go to graduate school and get my masters in it. I would then either work at a school with kids, or work in a doctors clinic. My Mom thinks I would be good at it because I'd always kinda been interested in working with kids, but I didn't want to be a full time teacher, and I also have a sign language background from High School.

Is you brother moving here for school? Heaven forfend! My brother just graduated - again - after, oh, about 19 years (on and off) in college! He's got a girlfriend *squeals in delight* and they're moving in together.
We've hiked in the redwoods (Hendy Woods, I think) after the rain and it was just amazing. Yes, in the rush of our busy lives, it's important to recall what we love.
