what I am...
Mar. 30th, 2006 09:57 pmI'm totally overwhelmed about the novel writing project for April.
I'm getting officially ordained on Sunday, with a sparkly velvet dress that I made and everything. Much house-cleaning and cooking and writing to do beforehand.
We went to the city (SF) today and I spent a shocking amount at LUSH. OTOH, I have bubblebath for the next year, at least.
Had fantastic dim sum.
I *finally* went to the Exploratorium.
...
That 10-anonymous-things-about-people-on-my-flist makes me almost sick with angst. Either it's all negative things and I get paranoid that you hate me, or it's all nice things and I fret that I'm not on the list and no one loves me. Dude, if you have something to say to me, mean or nice, please just say it. I can't read those things anymore.
...
Sooooooooo much to do..... Maybe I'll just take a long series of baths instead...

Date: 2006-03-31 07:56 pm (UTC)Dim sum - we went to Loon Wah in Campbell. Delicious!
LUSH = natural bath and body goods, originally from England, but now they have shops all over. Very very very dangerous to the pocketbook, since things are expensive but so yummy smelling.

Date: 2006-03-31 07:00 am (UTC)I don't like the "10 anonymous things" meme at all. I did it a a few years back and then I felt really weird about it and decided never again.

Date: 2006-03-31 08:00 pm (UTC)10-things = my opportunity to display my extreme paranoia. So let's not go there. ;) Good call on your part, I think.

Date: 2006-03-31 09:26 am (UTC)And for some reason the sparkly velvet dress I'm seeing is purple. Or bright shiny green. Yet my gut says purple. Am I right? And yay for ordination! What are you being ordained as? I mean, there's the simple things like the email one, which I am, and there's really cool things that deserve sparkly velvet dresses! Anyway, YAY!

Date: 2006-03-31 08:06 pm (UTC)Being ordained as a priestess, in general. End of the line, top of the heap, you're officially good to go for my group. We're very eclectic, so it's not like the 1st, 2nd, 3rd level official thingies that the Gardnerians and other groups have. Just a "here's an official stamp of approval that you're on the right path, can teach people, do solo rituals, and we think you're qualified" sort of thing.
Email ordination? What's that?

Date: 2006-04-01 01:28 am (UTC)And what I'm ordained in is the Universal Life Church--completely non-denominational, etc. It's in CA, and you go onto their site, enter your email, and TA DA! you're a legally ordained minister. You can do anything but circumsticion. Works especially well if you want a friend to marry you, etc.
And in my Trad there are five levels. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th (Elder) and 5th (Death). Apparently, you can get the 5th before any others but you can't get the others after you get that one. Poo. ;)

Date: 2006-04-01 05:20 pm (UTC)Ah yes, the Universal Life Church. Well, I might get one of those someday just to do marriages, but since you can just buy it, it doesn't have any meaning, to me.
My teacher explained the ordination as being the equal to 3rd or 4th level, in Gardnerian/Alexandrian trads. If that helps you make sense of it, as it doesn't help me much. ;)

Date: 2006-04-01 09:57 pm (UTC)And I agree in re:the ULC, yet it's so you can do legal stuff, so it's good, yeah? Meaningless, yet good. hehe

Date: 2006-03-31 08:08 pm (UTC)I admire you too - no bigger adventure than bringing a new person into the world! And you're not exactly mainstream conservatism either. ;)

Date: 2006-03-31 08:14 pm (UTC)That's so sweet of you to say - I'm blushing and don't know how to respond, other than to thank you. Lately I feel very invisible and it's such a nice feeling to not be. Thank you for taking the time to fluff my ego a bit. *hug*
unabashedly and uniquely you - Goes both ways. I like that you're very warm and kind, but also not afraid to say "this is my opinion" and hold to it, but in a respectful way. That's so rare, to allow others to disagree and not snark and still hold firm with your own beliefs.
*smoocH*

Date: 2006-03-31 08:17 pm (UTC)Ordained as a priestess, in my own eclectic anything-goes wiccan group. Just means I have the stamp of approval from 5 people that I know that I'm doing, can teach other people if I want, do public service and rituals, offer guidance from a spiritual perspective. It's not a formal tradition, so it's not a clear-cut thing, but it means I'm done "learning" with my teacher. Of course I still have lots to learn on my own...

So there.
Good luck tomorrow at the ordination - i know you're going to knock'em dead.
Not literally of course...

Date: 2006-03-31 10:53 pm (UTC)Thanks - I totally trust the people doing the ritual, but since I don't know quite what's planned, I'm all in a tither!
