002. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
003. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
004. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
005. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
1. Who's your favorite character to write?
wow. start off with the easy one, why dontcha? um... orlando was easy to write. ewan is also easy. i think i prefer ewan, at the moment. i like straightforward, simple, energetic 20something male characters, rather than the tall/dark/older/complicated/aloof kind. i want my boys to swoon for those men, but i find them difficult to write. right now i'm so in love with my ewan in
50kinkyways.
2. What do you like least and most about where you live?
least = traffic from the tourists in the on-season.
most = wacky, wonderful, weird people, all the time - it's never ever boring here
3. What one place of all the places you've never visited do you want to visit most?
there's a lot of places i've never visited. right now that most intriguing is greece.
4. What's your favorite piece of clothing?
black t-shirt with "deviant" on the boobs in silver sparkly cursive
5. Which are your favorite, salty snacks or Sweet?
sweet, if it's chocolate. if it's not chocolate, then salty. maybe. can i have both?

2. You've done a lot of RPG/co-writing - do you prefer it to solo-writing, and why or why not?
Yes and no. I'm much faster when I'm doing the tag style, particularly in AIM and it's really nice to have the paragraph your co-writer just sent inspiring you to write your next paragraph. On the other hand there's a certain style that you're locked into, the shifting POV, usually present tense thing that's good for sex scenes and fic where everything that happens is between two or three people--OK Helens and I managed four once but it did get a little dizzying,
With solo fic, it's a little easier to play with style a little or to stay exclusively in one character's head or write things with a larger cast. But it's slower, for me at least, because I usually lack the discipline to just sit and write.
3. Favorite sex toy/accessory? (If that's TMI how about favorite or most intriguing 50kinkyways prompt?)
I have a black and purple Heartwood cat o' nine with round braided tails with leaf ends that cost a ton, but I love it so very much. It was made back when Jeannette was actually still making all the whips herself and it's both gorgeous and perfectly balanced.
4. Two slash-characters, fictional or real people, and you get to watch them shag - who will it be?
Bean and Viggo, no doubt about it.
5. Norcalslashers - if I go to one of these events, how likely am I to meet you?
It depends. We don't go to the ones that Morgan Dawn has, but if you get invited to one of the Sundays at

Date: 2006-04-16 07:09 pm (UTC)Actually, I enjoy it a lot, especially now that both my kids are older and off to college or hardly home anyway so I don't feel like I'm neglecting them. Whenever I can steal a little free time from work duties (which sometimes doesn't happen!) I'll just get in the car and drive around and explore. Lately I've started to try and meet up with people I've gotten to know on LJ if they live anywhere near where I happen to be traveling, and that's been fantastic. I've been able to use the frequent flyer and hotel points I've accumulated to do fun things for me like TIFF and the retreats, that I wouldn't be able to afford otherwise. And, I almost feel guilty saying it, but the uninterrupted time alone leads to some of my most productive writing.
2. Of all your stories, which one do you like the most and why?
I'm never completely happy with anything I write, but I think maybe Red (http://namarie120.livejournal.com/6268.html), because it's the first story where I experimented with style and it seemed to work pretty well.
3. Of the 50kinkyways prompts, which one is the most extreme thing you would like to either to write or to try in real life? (You don't have to specify in your answer if it's writing ot or trying it.)
Submissive - not involving deliberate infliction of pain or humiliation, but just giving in, having to obey someone else. I'm such a control freak in both my job and personal life, that the idea of giving myself over to someone I trust enough to care for both of us is very appealing.
4. What's your favorite animal at the zoo?
I hate seeing animals in zoos, but I love the grace and speed and power of panthers (or any of the big cats).
5. If you won the lottery tomorrow and had all the time in the world to do whatever you want, what would that be?
Travel to all the places I still want to see, meet the people I want to meet, and read and write as much as I want.

Date: 2006-04-12 03:32 pm (UTC)The ancient Forum is high on my list, but I think more than that what I would like to do is to capture the mood, the essence, of the city. Our stay in Venice was amazing, because I could look out the window at the piazza below and watch the people really capture the feel of the city.
2. You do a lot of gardening - what is your favorite plant and why?
Oh goddess, only one!!! It’s a toss up between the lavender bush that ate the front yard and the Salvia chiapensis which is trying to do the same. Both are drought tolerant, require almost no maintenance and bloom 12 months a year for me. They would bloom less for you, but they’re both still highly desirable plants.
3. Two slash-characters, fictional or real people, and you get to watch them shag - who will it be?
Aragorn and Legolas are the ones that first spring to mind, but I’m going to go with Duncan and Methos - I’m fascinated by the old man.
4. What's your favorite thing about living where you do?
That it has the feel of a small town with the cultural diversity of a big city.
5. If you won the lottery tomorrow and had all the time in the world to do whatever you want, what would that be?
This is a good one for me - I’ve thought about this one a lot. It’s the kind of question that helps you to know if you are doing the right thing for yourself in life.
I would travel. We were watching Nature on Saturday and they were in the Pacific Northwest and I said to hubby that it would be great to get on a small boat and just explore the coastline. Then they went to Australia and I thought it would be great to spend about 4 months just exploring Australia.
But I would also want to take my money and skills and time and devote them to a project that I felt would better the world. The kind of complex, deep cause and effect projects that conservation and relief agencies are not undertaking in their hurry to slap a bandage on a problem.
For instance, if you want to save gorillas, you have to stop poaching. To stop poaching, you need to help the people in the region find food/health/economic security. You need to help them feed themselves, while at the same time teaching them about the invaluable ecological resources they possess and enlisting their aid in protecting those resources and stopping poachers. It’s a really tall order, but I believe it can be done.
You know me - I believe in the better angels of our nature. People just need to be redirected sometimes.

Exactly! That's why it's my new favorite question. It's shocking how many people haven't thought about it, really. And I like your answer about fixing the underlying social problems, not just the surface ones that are usually the focus of volunteer programs. Very insightful

Date: 2006-04-12 11:44 pm (UTC)Yes about the introspection. In the US, most of us have the ability to make decisions about our lives - where we work, how much we make, where we live, who with. So if you wake up somewhere one day and don't like it, you need to think about what you did to get there. Therefore, it stands to reason, that it is a good idea to think about where you might want to go so that you can move in that direction. Keeping in mind that other, better opportunities that you had never considered might present themselves and remaining open to them.

My answers...
Date: 2006-04-11 07:42 pm (UTC)2. My most underappreciated musical artist has to be Wayne Hussey of the Mission. They were big in the 80's but have still retained their core-following. He's a great song-writer and I love his voice.
3. Lol...very little is TMI as far as I'm concerned. I think my fave 'accessory' is definitely my riding crop. I also have a fondness for certain leather accoutrements too. :)
4. Hard to say, this one. I have a love/hate relationship with my hair. My eyes are a nondescript colour. My complexion is too rosy and I have one chin too many. I guess it would be my orthodontically-perfect smile. Thanks Mam and Dad!
5. Shallow as it sounds, I LOVE to shop! I would also travel (and shop). I would also devote more time to my fitness regime (non-existent at the mo), my hobbies and my family.

Date: 2006-04-11 08:14 pm (UTC)My dad was a pro wrestler when I was a kid, so it's been a part of my life since then. I haven't really watched it lately, because the current product has gone beyond bordering on ridiculous and has jumped right into bad soap opera territory.
2. What's your favorite art medium and why?
That's a tough one. I love art of every kind, everything from classic paintings to modern art. I love poetry, music, dance...each has their own individual aspects I enjoy so I can't really pinpoint anything.
3. Two slash-characters, fictional or real people, and you get to watch them shag - who will it be? Bean and Dom...don't ask, it's a strange fascination I have.
4. What's the one thing you love the most about how you look?
The fact that I have my very own, unique style that just seems to come about naturally. And I have killer legs!
5. If you won the lottery tomorrow and had all the time in the world to do whatever you want, what would that be?
Wow. Now you're really making me think. I would love to take the Princess on her dream trip - she wants to visit every state in the country. And I'd take her on a huge shopping trip.

Date: 2006-04-13 12:41 am (UTC)I've not lived anywhere but here. I guess that means I enjoy it. I love seeing other places, but this is home. Even though I own a house in Indiana, it's technically only a couple miles from the state line. I'd love to live on the northeast coast, or in the mountains.
2. You've done a lot of co-writing - do you prefer it to solo-writing, and why or why not?
I do prefer team writing to single writing. I love interacting with people, and I'm much more productive with a partner.
3. Which science fiction possibilities do you think are most likely to happen in your lifetime?
Transplants of cloned materials into humans; corneal identification as an everyday lock; fingerprint recognition to operate vehicles; people living on the moon.
4. What's the one thing you love the most about how you look?
The shape of my eyes and my high cheekbones, from a Cherokee ancestor.

I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! Then New Zealand. :)
