morning download
Apr. 18th, 2003 08:06 amMy brain is so full this morning, i have to get some of it out. i used to have an actual diary (journal? diary sounds so pre-teen-ish.) but got tired of lugging it around all the time and now don't know where it is. i know no-one wants to read all this crap, but i have to write it down.
Last night's dream was truly wacky: JKR gave a press release that _Order of the Phoenix_ had been so delayed due to struggles with her publisher regarding making the Boy Who Lived fancy other boys. (Oh, i do wish...) So then of course my brain being the wacky place it is, and lifting shamelessly from dozens of fics, it made this nice little movie where the Dursley's beat Harry to a pulp so he got sent to live with Aunt Marge, who coincidentally lived in my grandmother's house. Who asked if he liked boys and of course he had no idea what she was talking about and said yes... So she kicks him out and then he's at school, running around outside, chased by a huge Peregrine falcon that looks more like a Calif condor, and is supposed to be Voldemort.
My dreams are in fact usually this weird but do NOT usually involve HP&etc. It was a full moon, though, so I'm using that for an excuse.
And speaking of full moons, my coven met last night to just hang out and we decided we were too lazy and overbooked to do anything big for Beltane, so we're just getting all tarted up and going out dancing at the lesbian/gay bars in town instead. And in two weeks we're going on a field trip to The City, to check out Good Vibrations. Did i mention how much i love these women?
Totally can't knit with stupid thumb immobilized. May have to remove splint a few times a week just so i don't forget how to do it... Finally ready to change colors, too, having found silver yarn. And the house patches came in - thank god for ebay. May keep the scarf myself instead of giving it to husband, as promised.
H. is now learning how obsessed i am. Her image of me is tarnished forever. *relief*
Having posted VS yesterday, the stupid sequel i started jotting down is coming back to haunt me... don't think i'm nearly depressed enough to be writing though, especially something as angsty as "what happened to Remus after Sirius died."
Random factoids I learned this week:
*will-o-the-wisp is also called hinky punk in some places in England
*Padfoot is the local name for a big black dog shape appearing around graveyards somewhere in England
*wolves AND ravens mate for life (oh, i am SO stealing that for the sequel *grin*) but "for life pretty much just means that they're monogamous because by the time one partner dies, the other is usually past prime mating anyway
*and finally, the volunteer growing by my driveway is native lupine... *giggle* need to look up why it's called lupine anyway; am guessing the flowers supposedly look like a wolves tail. ever wonder if the people who came up with the folk names for flowers were high?
i swear i won't be writing such long posts every day. really. eventually, anyway. i knew this was going to be an addiction.
