People tended to think of Orlando as the daring one – enthusiastic, effervescent, fearless, bold. Always ready for a new adventure, fresh out of acting school and eager to move half-way around the world for his first movie. Willing to risk life and limb for any new experience, so long as it promised a thrill. Not one to hold back due to fear.

Whereas people tended to think of Sean as mature, steady, his passions held firmly in control. Stabilized by the responsibility of family and a respected career. Even perhaps a bit of a wimp for his fear of flying. Definitely not one to take risks just for excitement.

Unless one really knew them well, of course.

Knew Orlando woke from night terrors regularly, dreams of helpless paralysis, tormented by white-coated sadists. Knew that he didn't trust his body, didn't feel safe or confident in his skin, and was afraid he never would again. Knew that despite all the flirting and teasing, he hadn't had a proper shag since before he left England. Knew that he was terrified of reactions to his scars.

Sean was used to scars, knew about nightmares, could read the fear in Orlando's eyes as easily as he could read the looks his young friend threw his way when Orlando thought he wasn't looking. And Sean did enjoy the thrill, the risk, the game of seduction. The adventure of learning a new lover, the challenge of coaxing reluctant desire.

And Sean, unlike Orlando, was daring enough to make the first move.
