reflections
Dec. 31st, 2007 01:47 pmLooking at my resolutions from the last year always feels like a depressing failure. 2007 was mostly a blur for some reason, so I went through and read most of my RL posts to see just what the fuck I actually did for the last 12 months. I whined a lot. Sorry – I'll make an effort to stop that this year.
Good Things:
- Exercised pretty regularly
- Published a few short stories
- Found out what kind of work schedule works best for me
- Went to Ashland Shakespeare festival
- Went to Georgia in May with slashy girls
- Edited book, contacted publishers, investigated self-publishing
- Spoke at an erotica panel
- Started coaching other people and actually made some money at it and fell in love with the process of helping people
- Created a website
- Created a business plan
- Had some issues with friends. I think they're mostly worked out at this point, and for the better.
- Founded the Ladies NaughTea Society
- Lots and lots of writing – both fiction and non-fiction
Not-So-Good Things:
- Coven split up
- Lots of health issues, but they were either resolved or I decided to just live with them
- LJ turned into a not-so-safe-place and there's still no good alternative, despite IJ and ScribLit
- Harry Potter series ended, and was a much bigger emotional thing for me than anticipated
- Family crap
Fics I wrote in 2007
( cut for list/links )
43 fics total. OMG – so that's what I did with all my time.
Total (fictional) words written in 2007: 98,834
If you count Virulentus Somnium - Harry/Severus (posted in 9 parts, NC-17, ~36,607 words), which wasn't written in 2007 but was massively rewritten/edited:
135,441 words for 2007
That is way way WAY more than I have ever written before. More fics overall, more long multi-chaptered fics, more finished projects, more everything. There might have been a lot of things I didn't get done this year, but I certainly earned the right to call myself a "writer."
