Also, to prove how weird the inside of my brain is today, I was sitting there, looking at pretty boys, wondering who some of them were, admiring black nail polish and eyeliner and the return of all those lovely Mod styles...

and I saw this picture:

and my brain said "Oooh! Marauders'-era Moony and Padfoot, after Paddy's dressed him up to go out clubbing."

My brain is a dangerously slashy place.

Because now I look at this:

and think "Remus. Sirius. Peter. James."

Because obviously any group of 4 boys looking criminally young and hot has to be related to the HP fandom somehow.

I miss Marauder slash. I used to read Potter slash all the time and I love me some MWPP. I'm really excited to see them in OotP. Bless their slashy little asses souls.

It's funny to me that reading H/D while they're in school pushes my pedophile buttons but MWPP doesn't at all.

Maybe they're just hotter and I never saw them at age 11 so I can pretend they're really grown-ups in teenage bodies.

For all my perving in the Harry Potter fandom Harry/Draco never did *anything* for me. I read a few well put together fics that I enjoyed, but for the most part it always came off as too manufactured. And too Romeo and Juliet for my taste.

I think it helped that people tend to write MWPP in the older years of Hogwarts. Also, that fightsex/hatesex vibe wasn't there. Young characters dealing with angry sex makes them seem younger since well... usually the "I'm so mad I could fuck you" concept doesn't really come up until after some other grasp of sexuality has been established. That and 15 year olds can barely deal with the "I like you but my friends don't" much less "I like you but your family wanted to murder mine."

I have so many thoughts about this kind of thing I could go on for hours. But I really really shouldn't. Especially not on three hours of sleep.

And I totally agree. H/D is kind of the gateway drug into HP slash, for most people, but most of the scenarios are such a cliche. (And I totally include my fics in that assessment, too.) The ones with adult characters have a lot more depth to them.

Although I do love me a good snarry fic. ;)

(And hey - how is life/school/work? I want an update.)
