notes and observations on HP #6

Finished just barely in time for tomorrow's release...
Things I Noted On This Reading/Total Babbling
1) Harry loses some of his awe of Dumbledore in this book. While they're working together, Harry so clearly wants to trust him, but Dumbles keeps shooting him down and is blatantly manipulative, not to mention not very honest about his motivations. Poor Harry.
2) It's surprising that the Ginny romance is such a huge deal, when they're only actually together for, what, a month? *rolls eyes* Teenagers.
3) Harry definitely seems to be on the first steps towards forgiving, or at least understanding, Draco, in feeling pity and compassion for the situation Draco's been put in. Even if he still dislikes Draco. *g* That bodes well for H/D fans and the 7th book.
4) Poor Snape. He doesn't actually do anyhting wrong or bad or evil at all aside from kill Dumbles. He doesn't hurt a single soul during the battle, and he keeps the other DEs fleeing from Hogwarts with him and Draco from hurting Harry. *sigh* Poor Sevvie. No one believes he's good except me (and nine million fangirls).
5) The locket is clearly Regulus' doing - why even bother introducing anything about him at all, unless it's a red herring. Which I doubt.
6) I think Dumbledore's idea that Nagini is horcrux is just weird. It ought to be items from *both* Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, and no snakeie. Otherwise it's not symmetrical and I hate that. :P (What, you think Voldie is less OCD than I am?)
7) I suppose I see some evidence to support the theory that Dumbles isn't actually dead... Maybe. I doubt it, though. Seems like he needed to kick it in order to let Harry be the hero.
8) HBP is just so bloody plot-heavy. It leaves me feeling disconnected and disjointed. I frankly *hate* the way this book is structured. So much time is spent in Dumbles' pensive and then "a month goes by and it was spring suddenly". I never got any sense of what's happening in the school year or Harry's day to day life. How was Snape as a DADA teacher? How did Harry suddenly figure out how to apparate? What the fuck else is going on in the present? It's all glossed over in favor of the memories, and it frustrates me.
9) Remus is *so* not into Tonks. He has too many reasons why they shouldn't get together, finishing with a resounding, if unstated, "How about because I don't love you?" Better yet: "How about because I'm a GAYGAYGAY werewolf, and Sirius was my mate and he's dead and the only one who can replace him now is Severus or maybe Harry?" Pretty please, JKR?
10) CLIFFHANGER!!! OMG, I need book #7 now now nowNOW! There are so many unanswered questions, like how in fuck Harry is supposed to be able to go from not remembering that Inferi can be held off with fire to being able to find the remaining four horcruxes, get through the protections around them, and destroy them. NOt to mention kill Voldie.
Snape will have to help him - that's all there is to it. I also support the Draco-turns-spy theory, and helps either with or instead of Snape, if JKR kills Snape too soon.
Unless Harry dies. But I don't believe Ron and Herminone are going to be able to solve all of these mysteries by themselves. It's just too far-fetched, and they've always had weird random help from somebody, so Snape/Draco are my guesses.
11) Final prediction - Harry wins, Voldie dies, Snape dies, and either Hagrid/Ron/Hermione are toast. Others too, probably. Maybe Neville will be critical in some way.
And they they all have hot gay sex to celebrate.
No, really.
THE END IS NIGH!!!
