salixbabylonOops - I went out of town and LJ broke again (I was out of town for Strikethrough 2007 in May, too.) Don't worry - I promise I won't leave again. ;)
Not only was I out of town and late to the party, but I'm a member of several fandoms and had a lot of "read this later" bookmarks to check out.
I'm caught up and here is the result: everyone has already said everything I would say, and most likely, said it better. So instead I am passing along references and resources, because I am still a librarian at heart.

As for me, I'm backing up with LJ Archive and syncing it weekly. I've got IJ and GJ accounts, and will be figuring out how to use them and and friending you all, and possibly importing LJ posts if it's not too complicated. Maybe setting up an external website (again), too.
I'm sure all of this will take me a while to figure out, but at least I feel like I'm doing something. Because no, I'm not a BNF and no, I don't draw or write porn with minors (although I have written about underage wanking), and yes, it's highly unlikely that I'd ever be noticed and deleted.
But I could be.
And in my totally not humble at all opinion, that's just wrong.
I don't know if I'm leaving LJ or not yet. I'm paid through April and by then the path should be more clear.

I set up GJ and IJ accounts as well, but I hope there isn't a mass migration. I've only just gotten comfortable here.

I'd like to be able to read everything all in one spot, but I'm not going to stay here just because everyone else does, if LJ is still being an asshat. I guess we'll see what happens over the next 6 months - I'm prepaid through April at the very least. Maybe they'll have figured things out in a more positive direction by then.
