Ok, I did a Google search and got 230 hits for "bollocksed-up" and 1340 for "bollixed-up". My spell-check liked bollixed better. But I thought it was bollocks, generally.

Which one is correct? Anyone? Help?

It is most definiately "bollocks" ... as in "what a load of bollocks" or "I really bollocked that up"

And Franling *is* the total authority. She Brit-picks all my stuff...and also generally awesomely betas things.......so what she says...Yes.

*grin* I'm not sure I can take any credit for that--I think you've been discovered and duly pounced upon. :D

*hugs*

Thank you, thank you!

I knew spell-check was stupider than I am, but then Google's results really confused me. Yae! Hopefully now my character won't sound so American.

I definitely will - thank you so much for the offer. (Hope it's ok that it will be for LOTR RPS as well as HP fics.)

I've had second thoughts with this ... "I really bollocked that up". I am now wondering if it should be "bollocksed that up". Hmmm. If you want to use something like that, let me know and I well check it up further.

This is quite a good site: http://www.effingpot.com/index.html for Brit stuff.

Eeek! Yes, I am using it exactly like that. "He’d panicked and totally bollocked up everything." is the sentence in question.

Any checking you're willing to do would be great. Even just asking one or two people and going with the consensus is fine.

Thank you!

I did ask about this on my journal and got a few responses if you wanted to go take a look.

Hope it is helpful.

Absolutely, Fran's right, we use 'bollocks' and 'bollocked up' (we do also say ballsed up' which of course is exactly the same thing)

Thank you, thank you, also! It's always reassuring to get a few different voices, just to make sure.
