Magicians = magic
Jan. 23rd, 2009 03:12 pmI've been sick, so this afternoon was the first chance I had to watch 4.12 of my beloved show. Which means I'm at skip=120 in my f-list because I didn't want spoilered, so here are my thoughts before I go read everybody else's.
Can we say parallels? Damn, that was some pretty decent writing though, I thought. (And after last week's wreck of a script, that's wonderful to see.)
I could say a lot of things, but mostly I'm left with a sense of deep foreboding, that "Supernatural" will end like a Shakespearean tragedy, with the stage littered with dead bodies. Sam does the "right thing" and kills Lilith but goes darkside; Dean is forced to do the "right thing" and kills Sam.
Sam is the only one who can kill Lilith. Dean is the only one who can kill Sam. And in the end? I can't see Dean living with himself. There is no happily ever after.
Also - DUH - Ruby's evil. No demon who gets out of Hell is altruistic. She wants Sam to use his powers way too badly for it to not be personal. What would she get out of it? Salvation? Or something better?
And finally an aside - I still think YED's endgame is going to resurface. This Lilith stuff is sort of a red herring, so we forget.
Hey, maybe YED and Ruby have some kind of connection...
To close - I love it when the show ends and I have fretful woobie goosebumps. Yay. :)

Oooooh, I like this! If somehow Ruby had picked up YED's torch, so to speak, and was working to arrange whatever endgame he'd had planned. Wow, how cool is that to think about! I still think it could be as simple as Ruby's scared shitless of Lilith & would be happier with her dead, but this definitely bears pondering.
Hope you feel better soon! :)

I'm feeling much better - thank you. NOthing 24 hours in bed won't cure.

I mean, it's just. They're not going to grow old. They're not going to quit. What does that leave? PAIN.
