I've been sick, so this afternoon was the first chance I had to watch 4.12 of my beloved show. Which means I'm at skip=120 in my f-list because I didn't want spoilered, so here are my thoughts before I go read everybody else's.

Can we say parallels? Damn, that was some pretty decent writing though, I thought. (And after last week's wreck of a script, that's wonderful to see.)

I could say a lot of things, but mostly I'm left with a sense of deep foreboding, that "Supernatural" will end like a Shakespearean tragedy, with the stage littered with dead bodies. Sam does the "right thing" and kills Lilith but goes darkside; Dean is forced to do the "right thing" and kills Sam.

Sam is the only one who can kill Lilith. Dean is the only one who can kill Sam. And in the end? I can't see Dean living with himself. There is no happily ever after.

Also - DUH - Ruby's evil. No demon who gets out of Hell is altruistic. She wants Sam to use his powers way too badly for it to not be personal. What would she get out of it? Salvation? Or something better?

And finally an aside - I still think YED's endgame is going to resurface. This Lilith stuff is sort of a red herring, so we forget.

Hey, maybe YED and Ruby have some kind of connection...

To close - I love it when the show ends and I have fretful woobie goosebumps. Yay. :)

Sadly, I agree with you on all points. I soo want them to get a happy ending but I'm beginning to think it's like pissing into the wind.

Oooooh, I like this! If somehow Ruby had picked up YED's torch, so to speak, and was working to arrange whatever endgame he'd had planned. Wow, how cool is that to think about! I still think it could be as simple as Ruby's scared shitless of Lilith & would be happier with her dead, but this definitely bears pondering.

Hope you feel better soon! :)

I mean, if Ruby is so scared of Lilith and her allies... How does she keep managing to get out of Hell when she's sent back there? Someone big is on her side. And where is YED? Hell.

Just my feverish thoughts. ;)

I'm feeling much better - thank you. NOthing 24 hours in bed won't cure.

Yeah. But I'd rather it go that way, I think, than have them settle down and get married and have 2.5 kids and never feel quite right in their lives...

:P I don't mind something bittersweet, I don't even really mind if they both die - I just don't want to see them end in a Cain and Abel way.

The 2.5 kids thing would be hella weird but it's not something I ever even contemplate happening :P

I definitely think something darker is going on, when Sam says that he's fine with the psychic stuff, I think Ruby's been teaching him magic too.

Hmm... Yeah, she's up to no good. It's not all defensive demon-vomit, or why would Dean care?

Chicks, man. They're evil.

I hope you feel better soon *hugs*

And yes. Yes to everything you said. Supernatural isn't lollipops and candycanes and happily ever after. Even though I wish it was ;)

I know. I mean, who'd want them, right?

I know - but seriously, it would suck if they did a happy ending. It would just be wrong. They need to utterly break our hearts.

I do agree with you. I am all about the happy ending, but I can't see it in Supernatural. Part of me wants it. But part of me knows it's impossible. Supernatural can hurt me, desperately, but I do like it because I know it's right and it fits and it should.

If any of that makes sense.

I mean, it's just. They're not going to grow old. They're not going to quit. What does that leave? PAIN.
