1) Writing goes better when you just sit down to do it and don't have anything else to distract you other than your brain. 2000 words/day is difficult but doable.

2) Plotting things out is all well and good but when your characters decide to do things ahead of schedule, and then babble too much, and then unexpected visitors pop up, your plot outline is a thing of humor rather than value. OTOH, the best, most enjoyable writing comes from those moments when I just sit back and let my fingers transcribe what's happening with the characters in my head, barely keeping up.

3) Cicadas are LOUD! Like, buzz-saw all freaking night obnoxiously LOUD.

4) If I can't get a job, I'm damn well going to start acting like I'm vacation instead of keeping myself frantically busy with a home business that's not going anywhere and just depresses the hell out of me. I'm looking for a job yeah, but meanwhile? More writing, more napping, more outside time, more painting and arts and crafts and cooking and reading and and and. More fun.

5) If napping was an Olympic sport, I could win a gold medal.

I think I've outlined one story, ever. since they do what they want anyway. Like the relax more idea, you need less stresses.

Hey, what's wrong with napping? Cicadas ARE loud at night; but I bet you don't hear them half as much during the day. It's not like you'll miss anything on daytime TV. Besides, you can't put your dreams into words until you get your rest.
I say nap all day & sing with the cicadas at night. Then, the writing will come. Enjoy your vacation time and don't push the plot bunnies.

"you can't put your dreams into words until you get your rest" - excellent point. :) I'm doing better at letting the writing come as it will.
