life babbles

Apparently it's been a while since I told myself what I'm up to. I'm in an airport, killing a few hours and not finishing my chapter (yet) so this is as good a time as any to update...
1) Florida is HOT and WET. While this is a good thing in ladyparts during sex, it is a bad thing for AIR, since it needs to be breathed. Blech. OTOH, I had a great time visiting friends and doing a few businessy things and writing. And I was not nibbled on by a gator, so I'm counting the trip as a win.
a) Also, I wrote 7000 words and 4 chapters. Whooop!
2) Other things that are a win - mom does not have cancer (yet/at the moment/we think/again/disclaimers). The short story is she's got some lumps, one which is fatty and fine and one which they are keeping an eye on. Her pain has been from a cracked sternum and bone bruise in her chest. So no chemo, no refusal of chemo, no impending doom. Yay.
3) Job stuff may be picking up. Don't want to say to much, but cross your fingers for me, especially since I have this vague feeling that when I go back to the office tomorrow after six days of being gone, I'm going to get reprimanded and/or fired for something getting lost that I never touched (again). Real jobs suck. I always feel like something about me is fundamentally broken because of my inability to deal with office politics.
4) I am a redneck. But only in the literal sunburned sense. Thank god.
5) Cannot wait to go home to my boy, my dog, my bed, my kitchen, my refrigerator, my tap water, and my fresh fruit and veggies. The clawfoot bathtub was nice, but I will trade it and the lovely queen size bed all to myself for the other stuff most happily.
6) In conclusion = life is pretty damn good. :)

Date: 2010-07-16 07:23 am (UTC)i had a couple of people take a look, Julie Hays she has looked at a few things before.
And i asked someone else who seemed only content to rip the story apart and then proceeded to tell me that my characters were all flat and needed more work. And that they didn't have the time to correct anything so only looked at the first 10 pages.
so i sent it with a minimal beta job on it after julies advice and am now waiting to hear back still. I'm still quite nervous about it as ive never written anything so long for submission thats not had a call as such.

Date: 2010-07-13 05:17 pm (UTC)I'm at work now so my blessings are off (work, daycare, daycamp) having their own days. But there will be swimming (heat wave here in Montreal) and cuddling later.
One of the things that helps me when work is a pain is to remember that the job isn't my life, it's the work I do to support my happy life with my family. Hope that helps.
Hugs
