Of course, I didn't know who he was, so I had to Google. Interesting.

This was the result from the last chapter of Relationships 201, so then I tried to see if I got different results and pasted in bits from If I Could Rearrange the Alphabet - same thing.

I tried something really old - A Thorough Workout to see if my style has changed over time. It hasn't.

The only one I got something different from was Harry’s Favorite Sandwiches, which said JK Rowling. Not helpful.

I'm going to have to check out this Chuck guy. ;)

ETA: Then I went and pasted in all 4 chapters of "When Work is a Pleasure." Chapter 1 was margaret Atwood, 2 and 3 were HP Lovecraft, and 4 was Stepehen King.

WTF? I'm confused. Also, I have no idea what this even means, as I haven't read anything by any of these people. Huh.

Evidently, "The Way You Say" is like Tolstoy or Nabakov, but "Living on Borrowed Grace" is James Joyce. I guess my writing is slowly evolving. Or devolving. Or just getting weirder.

I get the Palahnuik for you, and the Atwood, but the Lovecraft?? I don't think so... And Stephen King - WTF?

Not like I'm any expert on Lovecraft or King. I've read them. And Atwood I know well (it's mandatory for Canadian English Lit majors). You might like "The Edible Woman".

I haven't actually read any Palahniuk myself, but I've seen 'Fight Club,' and I've read all of the summaries. He works with really bizarre ideas - so I think I'd like him. iow: Good Job! (And I'm afraid there's not much I really don't like, so Good Job! on Atwood, Lovecraft and King, as well!)

-I- went to the wiki.. verry interesting, Chuck's gay. they've got a "label" for his writing style.. transgressive fiction, AND a seperate link (yay Wiki!) for that genre/style and THAT link summons the spectre of Bill Burroughs.
JUST because I could, I dragged over a bit (w/out permission) purporting to describe Chcks work..
The narratives of Palahniuk's books are often structured in medias res, starting at the temporal end, with the protagonist recounting the events that led up to the point at which the book begins. Lullaby used a variation of this, alternating between the normal, linear narrative and the temporal end after every few chapters.

Frankly, I think with so many different resutls, all I can conclude is that I wrote about weird, contemporary things and apparently mostly like guys. Maybe I'll chck out Atwood next time I'm in the library...

Oddly, I stopped reading contemporary fiction some time around the early 90s whe I was in college and never got back into it. I saw Fight Club and loved it though, so I'm tkaing it as a compliment. ;)

Interesting, to think my writing could be "transgressive" at all. Well, whatever. I'm kind of clueless about things like that, which style is what, and what that actually means. I'll have to do some wikisurfing - thanks! ;)
