We have a new best friend...



We adopted him this morning. His name is Hershey, he's 6, and he's a big spazzy happy boy. :)

Have you had a dog before? What made you adopt, not buy? Is his name Hershey because he's chocolatey brown, and did you name him? Wah! I want a dog. Can't have one, but that doesn't stop me from wanting one.:D

Yes, we had a dog for 14 years, Oswald. He passed away last July and we've been sad ever since, but weren't sure we were ready for a new dog yet.

We wanted to adopt beucase I wasn't ready for a puppy - so much more work - and it seemed like it would be both a good thing to do for an animal in need and a good way to make the transition for us.

He came with his name - he's 7 years old. And yes, I assume Hershey is after the chocolate and the fact that the brown labrador retrivers are often called "chocolate labs", here. (I once knew one named Cadbury also.)

So... cute! I love cats and dogs. I haven't been able to have a dog due to where I am living, but one day I intend to get a great dane german shepard mix or even a mutt... can't decide...

:) We didn't want a puppy - couldn't deal with it emotionally. We were hoping for a younger age, 2-5 maybe, and it actually turns out he's 7. But oh well - he's with us now and he's pretty great.
