What I Learned Today: 'nonplussed' means 'puzzled,' not 'un-fazed.'

I think I knew that once upon a time, but I'd forgotten. Consider this a public service announcement. :)

I *thought* it meant puzzled or bewildered. That's why I got confused when you said it didn't. (and for some reason, dictionary.com didn't back me up.)

Ew. I shouldn't post after having a bad day. That sounded way bitchier than it should have. What I meant was, I was totally surprised when you showed me the entry that said that "nonplussed" meant "unfazed". (I had thought I had clarified it for myself years earlier, so I was very confused.)

anyway, when you posted that it meant "bewildered", my reaction was more of a "Wow! I wasn't on drugs and I was remembering it right" comment as opposed to a "I'm right, you're wrong, I fart in your general direction" comment (which is what the original post sounded like). Sorry if it came off harshly.

lol, when i first read the word in a book, I didn't know the meaning, but because of the context, i assumed it meant unfazed too! until i checked my Oxford dictionary... :P

I think in context it's often used incorrectly. I'm glad I looked it up! :)
