salixbabylon: (snape poppet)

Ok, I *just* finished it, all of... 20 minutes ago. Then showered and sobbed, then hopped on LJ brain-dump, 2 weeks after the rest of you.

*wah* *sniffle* Dumbledore....

And *sob* I so want to hope [livejournal.com profile] olivia_lupin is right about Sev. It hurts, thinking he might really have been bad all this time... *wibbles about my lovely broken Sevvy*

And yay for the return of H/D! I did so love that she made Draco good. I really disliked him after the last book, and now he's 3-dimensional again.

My brain hurts. I hate JKR. I think she needs to be locked in a cell until she finishes the next book.

But I ADORED the teenaged romantic angst and the snogging in the halls and ooooh boy, there were times Harry acted all grown-up and I got chills... *pervs* SO dominant... ;)

Oddly, I disliked Dumbledore the most, I think, in all of this... He was very... "off" throughout the whole book. I keep wondering what that was all about...

Thoughts? I'll keep reading everyone's old posts now that I've brain-dumped.

i think snape only acted on the Unbreakable Vow and is therefore still good and that DD made him make the vow. See, he can still be good...

I am hoping that as well... *clutches Snape* He just can't be bad, not after all those years of putting up with those awful children and not doing hexing Harry. ;)

*w00t* Congrats on readint HBP!!
Yeah, there's a lot of theories flying around about Severus and most ppl agreed that he's still being good. That Dumbledore sacrificed his life for the greater good! Although I knew he was going to die thanks to inadvertent spoilers on the news *bleck*
And I also had an idea who the Prince was going to be *heh* So there wasn't much of a surprise factor for me, but man! How I adored the H/D moments!! And Snape/Draco possibilities *yum*
There's even werewolf!Draco theories cos JKR never actually stated that he was in fact a DE *lol*
And also some ppl firmly believe that the 7th horcrux is Harry's scar, but nah, I don't think it is... Er, what do you think?
I think I talked too much... *meh*

I am sure hoping the Snape theories are true... I hadn't seen any spoilers, and was shocked that JKR actually killed Dumbledore. I think I keep hoping he might come back, but a tomb is pretty final... *sob* The Prince I kind of figured out from the beginning, even thought the book was too old to be Snape's. It just fit that it would be him, although I'd always envisioned him as a pureblood...

I'm not buying the Draco-is-a-werewolf theory -- at least just based on the book, I don't see that at all. But I like the idea that Harry might be involved as part of the last horcrux. Interesting possibilities...

Mmm... I think might be converted back to H/D now. ;)

Talk all you like! *smooch*

But about Harry's scar being a Horcrux... Doesn't that clash with the Prophecy?

It just fit that it would be him, although I'd always envisioned him as a pureblood...
Vold is supposed to be fighting for said cause, isn't he? I think Snape tricked other DEs to think he's pure-blood. Anyway, I was so hoping to know more about Snape's personal reasons why he joined the DEs and then turned his back to them and joined the OotP...

I'm not buying the Draco-is-a-werewolf theory
Yeah, me neither. But I'm so curious why Draco referred to that werewolf in particular in that moment in B & B. I suppose it was for the plot's sake. Harry and Herm. had to hear that name somewhere, right?

Hmm... Good point about the prophecy... Maybe Harry's death would just be the horcrux-catalyst, not his scar...

I would LOVE to learn more about Snape, too... Have wanted to since book 3, really. :)

But in a way, he did! The portrait in the Headmaster office!!

You know it's funny, - I agree with much of what you've said. Draco was very disappointing in the last book, and I can't help but think that if he had been the one to kill Dumbledore, that if he had been the one to commit that huge act, that Voldemort would have gained some unspeakable advantage. There must have been some reason to why the Big V was determined to have -essentially a child, because he's not of age yet- murder one of the greatest wizards of the era. And for that reason, I like to hope that Snape was somehow doing the Order a service -that by doing it in Draco's place, he saved Draco's soul and also took away a possible advantage.

As for the horcruxes, (1 = the diary, 2 = the ring, 3 = the locket, 7 = the part of his soul that he keeps inside himself) I think that the last horcrux has not yet been created, because I think Voldemort wants it to be Harry. Murdering his mortal enemy would make for a pretty potent horcrux, no?

And I also LOVED the teenage love theme. So cute. Who do you think the initials stand for? My friend suggested it could be Regulus Black...

And I don't think that it's possible that Snape was bad all this time. IT wouldn't give him the complexity of character that I think JKR has been working towards with him since book 1. I think I'm going to have to go back and re-read it. After I finish the beauty series. ;)

Have you read them? I seem to think that you have. I'd love to discuss with you sometime...

YOu know what else? I don't think that it will be nearly as long between books this time... She already has the last chapter written and at this point, she knows what she has in mind for everyone. Right? At least the movie comes out soon. WooT!!!

*hugs*

*nods vigorously* Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I mean, true, Voldie wanted Draco to fail, but he had to know Dumbledore wouldn't kill Draco, nor would he let himself be killed by Draco. And after all that talk about hoe killing splits your soul apart... Poor Sev. :( But yes, I want desperately for him to still be good and have been following Dumbledore's orders. The parallels between his actions and Harry forcing Dumbledore to drink the potion was not lost on me.

Ooh, interesting idea about the last horcrux... I too think it's probably related to Harry, either him or something of his/his family's or to do with his death... Interesting...

I thought the initials were Regulus Black immediately. I can't believe Hermoine hasn't thought of it. ;)

I think I read somewhere online that it was going to be another few YEARS before the next/last book, because she wanted to focus on her family a little more. I think she needs to be thrown in prison and forced to write until it's finished. :P

Beauty series - yes, I've read them. Am currently trying to pressure my husband into reading them to see what he thinks. *g* Am up for a discussion any time other than at work. ;)

Both Snape and Draco will be good in the end. I believe it.

*giggle* Love the icon! :)

And yeah, I really do think so. But still... *wibble* I didn't think she'd kill Sirius. Dumbledore I kind of saw coming (but didn't want to believe it), but not both of them... JKR scares me. ;) I have too much wrapped up in her characters.
