From [livejournal.com profile] nimlothriel:

Some of you I hardly know at all, but you friended me and I thank you. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she wears mismatched socks." I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal...

Bonus points for wacky/sexy/TMI. ;)

Good one!

Let's see...

I'm allergic to apples, addicted to Root Beer and...

keep my toenails painted metallic pink even though, as a rule, I hate pink.

I've never met anyone allergic to apples before - cool. :) And YES! Another pink-hater. *high-fives*

I really like beetroot, broccoli, spinach and liver (not together, though).

I had an anatomically correct baby boy doll. I named it after my brother and later sold it on a flea market.

I had a huge crush on Parker Lewis when I was twelve.

And very very very weird. ;)

- I do actually wear mismatched socks sometimes.
- I like cooking and baking and cleaning.
- I recently discovered that having anal sex is actually a good idea. (You wanted TMI, right?)
- Mmm, raisins.

Hmmm...
>I can read German, but can't speak or write it
>I can tie a knot in a cherry stem with my tongue
>I once read the complete works of Shakespeare - backwards
>I steal a pair of underwear from every man I know

Wow, that must be quite a collection of knickers. ;) Any good ones?

And I have to ask - why did you read them backwards?

I never kiss and tell...or thieve and tell either!
And I read Shakespeare backwards just because I could! Actually, someone said it was impossible to do and I had to prove them wrong.

I also like anal, with enough lube (otherwise - ouch) and ... reciprocation is a wonderful thing. *g*

I love to pop zits. It is very satisfying. They can be mine or someone else's. Doesn't matter. The best ones are the ones that squirt out across the mirror.

I also love to eat the boiled chicken hearts when I make chicken stock.

And I love the smell of my hooha. And if that's not tmi, then I don't know what is. ♥ j

Very random, probably TMI:

I once got drunk on Georgian champagne on an overnight sleeper train from Moscow to St. Petersburg. The champagne was great and ludicrously cheap but the hangover was a doosie and it took hours to find somewhere to buy bottled water. (Fans of Tchaikovsky/ The Music Lovers will know the water in St. Petersburg has a side order of typhoid).

I sat next to "Sir" Bob Geldof at the original LiveAid (very, very briefly).

I once grew cannabis in my greenhouse. Unfortunately a damp spell led to a slight fungal problem that screwed with the THC content - no biggie for me, like Bill C I can't inhale (though I don't get blown by interns).

When not co-located with partner, a "rabbit" (or two!) is a girl's best friend (though I admit that Teddy is better for snuggling).

I hope never to be mature enough to know better.

All those together make it sound like you lead a very exciting life indeed!

Yay! Me too. :)

I'm not sure that I could deal with an exciting life. I've been lucky that I've been able to travel, though nowhere I'd consider really exotic - I'm working on it. Everybody has some special experience to talk about - it's all a matter of perspective; a refugee from Sudan or Pakistan would think that having a house with a washing machine or a trip to a supermarket phenomenally thrilling.

I once got punched in the face by a right-to-lifer because I was escorting a patient into the Morgentaler (abortion) Clinic (the one that later had to get torn down because it was set on fire).

Some people volunteer at the food bank. I used to escort patients into the abortion clinic. Meh. It was something to do for 8 hours a week...

Damn, woman. I always knew you were a brawler - I picture you picking fights with Hells Angels in seedy bars, like "Tank Girl" or something. ;)

An excellent cause - one I'd like to give some time to, now that I'm free.

I'm not actually that much of a brawler, but if some fundamentalist maniac is looking to injure a woman because she's had to make a very difficult choice and she's already scared to death without him making her life even more miserable, well, you've got no choice but to put your body between him and her and roll with the punches.

I spent a while escorting patients, staying in the clinic at night when Operation Rescue threatented etc. Had to stop when I chose to get pregnant. Couldn't have them kicking me in the stomach like they did to the pregnanat manager of one of the clinics. But I still did support work, calling for help during blockades, fetching coffee, taunting the enemy etc.

Here's a little tip, if you want to really freak out right-to-lifers - when they ask you if you're expecting (which, at the time, was pretty obvious since I was eight months pregnant) yell real loud, "Frankly, I don't know what to expect - the father was a big black dog with red glowing eyes!"

And if they beg you not to hurt your baby, turn to your friend with a look of sheer terror on your face and shout "Oh, my GOD, we left the baby in the microwave!!!" Gets 'em every time...

Right-to-lifers - they're fun to tease, but damn, not fun enough to make them worth having around.

I humbly thank you. I felt guilty for letting others carry the load for so long - once Operation Rescue started coming up to Canada and blocading clinics, I had to get involved. I've never had to get an abortion (luckily) but damn it, if I or anyone I know ever needs one, I want it to be clean and safe and affordable and legal!

That was a long time ago. I'm not active in that movement anymore, but I do other stuff. I think it's healthy for the individual and the community to be involved in something, whether it's street-level activism, community organisations, arts groups - we're all in this together, you know?

I get up at every morning at eight for reruns of Xena: Warrior Princess. Sometimes I record it for later watching, but I *always* wake up for it. Then afterwards, I go back to bed.

Oh! And I've never been kissed, etc. yet on February 11th I'm volunteering at Seattle's Kinky Carnival. :D It means I get in for free for an hour's work!

Date: 2006-01-27 04:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com
Wow - I can't imagine getting up that early if I didn't have to, but for Xena it might be worth it. ;)

The kinky carnival sounds fun - do report back and let me know if you have a "status change". ;)

Seems there are a few folks who can say #2 as well - I am glad all of the reading and watching provides an outlet for those urges. ;) *smooch*
