life/update/babbbling a usual
Aug. 1st, 2006 09:24 am1. Happy Lammas/Lughnasadh! I love baking but rarely make time for yeast breads, so I make a special point to do so on this day every year. This year I've really been enjoying the ideas and thoughts in a book I received for Yule, "Witch in the Kitchen." I might even make her Real Earth Mother Whole Grain Bread this morning. And probably do something arsty with it, since my coven is meeting later tonight.
2. ankle update - still occasionally sore (mostly after dance class). Swelling seems to be gone *finally* - thank god. I didn't want unsexy thick ankles. I'm still working on regaining strength and flexibility, and dance class has been a challenge. Still, it's getting there.
3. diet's not going spectacularly well. i need to treat it more seriously, actually follow the rules i've come up with rather than thinking of them as guidelines.
4. husband and dog - good, as usual. had some painful/difficult talks lately but the results have been a much improved communication about sex, so far. yay! don't you love it when things actually work? ;)
5. friends and family and everyone have been really supportive. i'm so blessed to have such a nice house, pretty things, clothes i like, people who love me even when they don't understand me, and so many warm and loving communities. last night as i was falling asleep i went over all the wonderful things in my life (since it's Lammas, I try to think about the nice things I'm grateful for and the things I am proud to be "harvesting") and I slept so well and peacefully. i really do have a wonderful life. one that's getting even better every day, and i can take credit for shaping it.
6. my first workshop is tomorrow night! aaaiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! Very scared. Or not, - I'm not sure. Excited. If you're interested in details, or want to read my "columns" or anything else about my real life, that account is
7. been meditating more. my god, what a difference it makes.
8. finally, one of the things that i'm most grateful for is all of you. sometimes i feel stuck on the sidelines of fandom(s), but that's my own choice and doing, for many reasons, and i'm actually pretty happy where i am. i'm grateful to have met a community of (mostly) women who have similar interests, political leanings, and set me the example of being unafraid to be fannish at whatever age. knowing you are all out there, wherever you are, however little i know you, gives me comfort and courage to me more fully who i am, more comfortable in my own skin. thank you all for being in my life.

6. Good luck for the workshop tomorrow. Don't stress out like mad. You are uber organized and incredibly talented and you sell yourself short. You rock and so will the workshop. I can't wait to hear all the details. When do you plan to start our long distance one? How is that going to work?

Date: 2006-08-02 04:35 pm (UTC)1. I did. They really liked you, too. :)
2.
1/2 cup warm water
2 tablespoons dry yeast
1 teaspoon honey
1 1/2 cups warm milk
2 cups rolled oats (i did 1 cup oats, 1 cup cream of wheat beucase i ran out of oats)
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 cup sesame seeds
2 cups wheat flour
1-2 cups white flour
Wake up yeast in water and teaspoon honey. Scald milk, mix with oats, honey, oil, salt, sesame seeds. Mix in wheat flour. Add yeast mixture. Add 1 cup white flour. Knead on floured surface for 10 minutes until elastic, adding white flour as needed.
Let rise in warm place, in an oiled bowl (i used vegetable oil and some walnut oil), turning dough to make sure entirely coated in oil. Let rise about 1 hour, until doubled in size. Punch down, divide into half (or more), shape as desired. Cover and let rise for about 40 min. Bake in preheated oven at 350 for about 30 minutes.
4. just breathing, relaxing, focusing on the heart chakra, mostly. being grateful and appreciating things, big and small.
6. *smooch* thank you, honey. I'm excited but not overly afraid. :)
long distance one - i think that starts in 3 weeks. i need to figure out who is interested and get the details hammered out. Thanks for the rmeinder.
*snogs you silly*

Date: 2006-08-02 09:20 pm (UTC)But then, I don't want to deal with 300 people wondering why I never comment in their journals, or why I haven't written thair favorite pairing in a while, or whatever. So it balances out. I'll stay in the sidelines. ;)
Conventions? Which ones do you go to?
