I'm posting this to get some information about how interested people would be in taking my "how to write erotica" workshop as a teleclass (or some other distance-education format). I'm ready to start teaching my in-person class this week, but there also seemed to be some interest in a "remote" class. That sounds like fun too, so I thought I'd see what the interest level actually is. :)

Here is a link to the course description and syllabus "Setting the Page on Fire!".

Please answer the following questions to let me know what you think!

[Poll #976487]

Please feel free to cross-post this or tell people you know to come vote - I'm trying to get as much data as I can to decide if I want to do this.

Thanks!

Salix, you should post this on my spotlight forum!

We are trying to attract newbie writers there, so it may be good for you to do that... I can add it into next months newletter as well. Someday, if you have a banner ready, I would be happy to add it to the spotlight userinfo as well.

hugs

Jo

Thanks again for the suggestion. Do you think I should post a link to this poll to help gather data *OR* just post once I've decided what I'm going to do and when and have set a fee and stuff?

Hi there,

This is a great idea so I briefly need to explain why I have answered 'not interested!' It's not because I am actually Not Interested but because I know I won't find the time or energy (and anything that feels like homework throws me off). I would really love to get some tips and ideas to improve my writing and have toyed with the idea of someday doing a short creative writing course - but right now I can't participate in anything.

Good luck with the whole thing. I'm sure it will be beneficial to those who do participate either in person or as long-distance.

I totally understand about already being very busy. That's why I thought I'd see how many people were *truly* interested before I offered something.

There is at least one good book out there - Susie Bright's "How to Write Dirty Story", as well as a ton of websites. I should put together a list one day when I have some time... Hahahhaha. ;)

This sounds really interesting. I put down what I thought a class like that would be worth; $20/session for a writing course is pretty inexpensive. However, whether I'd be able to swing it after it was set up is another story. But I didn't want to put the lowest amount because your time alone is worth more than that.

I appreciate both the honesty of what you'd be willing to pay and that you think my time is valuable. Both are good information to have. *hug* :)

Yup I'll tell you where I am in comments. =)

I'm in Australian Central Standard Time which pretty much means that I'd either be staying up very late or you'd be up incredibly early if I were participating in some kind of session/time-based seminar format. That's why I selected the 'on-going drop in series' option because that would be much easier for me on the other side of the world and probably you as well if you were going to market outside your timezone. Probably I'd be most interested if it were a text-based system for which payment earned a password to access materials, with perhaps streamed lectures or chat sessions on topics at certain times.

Whooo.... Yeah, I don't think Australia really fits nicely into being able to participate in a telecourse. I like your idea of a text-based system, though. I'dd add that to the list of possibilities. Thank you for your interest and for sharing your thoughts! :)
