OK, it's official -- this is my offical journal and the one at InsaneJournal is a backup. I might be crossposting other random things occasionally, but LiveJournal is still the primary place for all the blather that isn't fic.

I'm still waiting for a better solution (scriblit?), but for right now, it seems as if most of my f-list hasn't left LJ and, well, I'm not that much of a follower usually but I do want to stay in touch with my friends.

On the other hand - does anyone know what the bloody heck has happened to the Harry Potter community? There used to be tons of fics all the time and now it seems as if a lot of the big communities are gone or just not getting many posts ([livejournal.com profile] daily_deviant, [livejournal.com profile] pornish_pixies, and others).

I am getting the R and NC-17 stuff from [livejournal.com profile] hogwarts_today but it's one email of about 4 links, two or three times/week. Are people not writing anymore or did the communities move or what? I've found a few at IJ but most just seem to be gone/getting very few posts. Or maybe they've had name changes and I missed it?

Has anyone else noticed this? Have any answers?

As far as H/D fics are concerned, there is still a fair amount of fics being sent to [livejournal.com profile] harrydraco and/or [livejournal.com profile] harry_draco. But it's true that fandom seems to be slowly dwindling down, which is only natural I suppose.

True enough - I think I got a little too used to the glut of fics that came out in the year before Book 7 was released. :)

Some communities do post quite a bit but you'd have to join specific ones. So if you wanted to read Remus/Sirius (like I do) the comm [livejournal.com profile] remusxsirius updates quite often. Or [livejournal.com profile] lupin_snape I notices posts quite a bit. It also helps to join other newsletter communities. [livejournal.com profile] sirius_news always seems to have a bunch of updates, but again, it depends on which characters/ships you're after.

It does seem like the main communities are more sparse. I haven't really been in HP for very long but it seems like since LJ went all policy crazy that maybe it's not that people are leaving it's just that things are more tightly locked and therefore not posted to the general masses.

I guess it was just the comms I had joined that seem to have tapered off a bit. Many are still going full-speed ahead, though, as you noted. I suspect that I just got used the abundance of fics that were being posted in the 6 months/year leading up to the last book. Plus, as someone else said, probably it's been a little quiet because a lot of authors are working on their holiday fest fics and not posting anything else.

I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything. ;)

Someone else observed this too, but I actually have the opposite problem - too many fics to read. I simply cannot keep up with all the WIPs these days. I think that much of the hard NC-17 and Snarry/chan fics have gone to IJ because of the LJ TOS issues, but it seems all the Drarry stuff is still here.

I guess I just wasn't looking in the right places or got too used to the abundance of fics that preceded the release of the 7th book. On the other hand, now I have time to read through my "to read" folder of fics I've been bookmarking for the last year. :)
