3) What happened to my MUSE???? I've got about 1/3 of this story to write and Jared doesn't feel like Jared anymore and I'm lost and can't connect with him.

I mean, writing RPS is always weird on some level because they are *characters*, not humans. But still, you don't want it to get too OOC, even in an alternate, made-up universe where they boys are gay. It's an odd balance between taking what you know about an actor, twisting it so it works for what you want it to be, ignoring facts you don't need/want (like girlfriends and wives), and still trying to have the dude be recognizable as himself and not just a shorthand way to skip over giving a physical description...

Anyway, any links to vids or interviews or whatever, where I can hear his speech patterns would be nice. Otherwise I'm going to have to watch some of Season 2, I think, for some emo-Sam moments, and the problem with this fic is that the emo is probably already too much...

I've found a good place to go to get a good selection of vids to watch the boys is at Super-wiki. You can look up the characters and actors and get info there. But they also have pages for the cons that the boys go to with links to vids and people's reactions to what's going on.

I've had this happen. I've always either reread my story to get back into it, or I rewatch an ep to get me back into the character. *nods* It's worked so far.

I find Jensen easier to write than Jared, probably because my Jensen was super snarky. Jared just did whatever he felt like doing, i.e. being bi/deep throating/burning shirts. :D You have emo problems with Jared? Definitely time to start watching 3rd season then, hon. Sam is unbelievably emo in season 3.

Emo problems as in = being way too emo and not enough of a "guy" ebing emo. (You know, like in H/D when Draco gets all weepy. Just. So. Wrong.)

*whispers* I think Jensen is just a lot easier to relate to. As is Dean. Maybe if I were more happy-go-lucky, I'd be able to relate better to Jared but I'm just not. (Not that he's that simplistic IRL either, but... most of the fics I read, he *is*, so that kind of makes it harder to suss out an emo-side for him.) (I am totlaly contradicitng myself here, huh? Erg. Back to the grindstone.)

You'd think that would make Jensen (or Dean) harder to write, but it's actually Jared who makes characterizing nearly impossible. *groans* I personally have it the hardest when I try to avoid all the J2 fic clichés, like shy!Jensen for example.

Yes - totally. As a newbie in the fandom, it's hard for me to know what's really real about the boys and what's a fannon cliche. (edit) And while I know it's not real, I don't want to be unoriginal/cliched either.

I'm just struggling to get the balance between legitimately, realistially worried and emotionally fucked up about an HIV test versus too-emo/girly/overly-in-touch-with-his-feelings. and also get in some porn. *g* Thank god for my lovely beta, is all I can say.
