RL babble update
Mar. 21st, 2009 10:43 amI realized it’s been over two weeks since I posted anything here with any actual content. Did you all miss my babble?
* I’ve almost finished watching Season 3 of SGA, and of course am reading lots of fics. I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy the series so much, but I *do*. I still don’t think Rodney’s terribly attractive, but at the same time I want to hug him or slap him for being infuriating, and he’s funny as hell, and I find all of those attractive qualities. Radek I just want to give a cup of tea, a shoulder to cry on for having to work with Rodney, and then flirt with until he blushes. John, well. Yes. Duh. And Teyla? Much hotter without the wig, but still smokin’ hot.
* I’ve also been making an effort this week to not abandon J2 fics in favor of the shiny SGA fandom, since I discovered that I need an occasional dose of the boys to keep my muses happy enough to let me write. To that end, I'm about 3/4 finished with a new fic and should have some of it ready to share soon, by the end of the weekend.
* Supernatural being back has helped a lot too. I haven’t been posting anything about the episodes because you all say it better than I could (although
sarka and I did have a long meta chat about Dean v. John in Hell and other things). I just love seeing the boys back on TV – it’s certainly helped restimulate (*ahem*) my writing muses.
* Between SPN and SGA, my brain is in overdrive. Before I go to sleep I tend to make up little gen/het Mary Sueish stories where I get to be trapped in an elevator with Jensen at a convention, or a hotel room with Sam and Dean (around season 2 or 3), or in a Pon Farr situation with John and Rodney on some random planet, or be the personal chef for not-so-platonic-housemates Jared and Jensen in Vancouver.
Sometimes there’s sex, but usually they’re just conversation and some snogging. I usually fall asleep before I get to the good parts. I would never write these things as stories, but they help me fall asleep and/or give me something to think about during Special Alone Time. ;)
Do any of the rest of you do this? Or am I just a big freak, as always?
* Recs lists question – I started bookmarking SGA fics that I loved (I know, I know. *facepalm*). Those of you who have up-to-date recs lists – what do you find the best way to do that? Do you make the link to your delicious bookmarks or LJ post and add the metadata right then and there when you finish reading? Do you do it weekly? Monthly? What works for you? So far I’ve made less-than-half-assed attempts at all of those and nothing has worked, but I’m determined to try again. I suspect it’s best to start with good habits rather than try to play catch-up once I have 200+ fics bookmarked.
Share with me your wisdom?
* It’s springtime! I’m feeling all revved up and ready to go again – thank goodness! The happy pills seem to actually be making me happy, and the light is helping a lot as well. (Although I got a SUNBURN yesterday, first day of Spring, after a mere 20 minutes outside talking to a friend. Time to start using the sunscreen body lotion again.)
Life = good. It’s gorgeous and beautiful outside. I’m looking for a PT job, been plugging away at promoting my book, cooking, etc. I feel positive about the world in general, which I suppose is why I haven’t updated. Not much to say other than that life is going well. It’s not perfect, and I can think of a lot of things that cause headaches and worry, but I haven’t been focusing on them aside from the moments when I’m actively working on trying to make things better.

Date: 2009-03-21 06:39 pm (UTC)Well, I've always done this (usually with different scenarios, although the Winchester boys have been featured occasionally), but maybe that just makes us both big freaks. I dunno. ; )

Date: 2009-03-21 07:04 pm (UTC)I think Rodney grows on you in attractiveness. I love his snark, but he has lovely eyes too.
Oh yeah, I definitely have the Mary Sue type dreams sometimes just before I'm sleeping. Like you, they never get very far, but I like it cos I'm snug in my bed and feeling safe and I know in my mind I can interact with them on a level I couldn't in the real world.

Date: 2009-03-22 06:37 pm (UTC)Rodney is growing on me. ANd I find him sexy in fanfic, at least.
I know in my mind I can interact with them on a level I couldn't in the real world.
Amen to that - it's definitely the main attraction for me, too.

Date: 2009-03-21 09:56 pm (UTC)Ha ;P Love it. Pretty much anything you say about SGA makes me happy and gives me a little bit of squee. I miss that show. Meh. Will just have to re-watch.
Woot for new fic! Am looking forward to it.
As for the pre-sleep stories, I sometimes do what you do, but I usually play out little fic flashes in my head, with whichever pairing currently takes my fancy. And these little flashes, they're so clear and so perfect and I wish I could write just one down exactly like that, but that never happens. It's generally not fic that I'm working on, it's just slice of life stuff. Makes me drift off very happily.
As for recs, I can't help you. I wish I could, but nothing works for me either *g* I just save the ones I really love in word so I have them but yeah. I think part of the reason I have so many emails in my inbox is because I have fic rec links in there. Oops.
As for springtime, you're giving me some get up and go! I need to go back and revist your spring-cleaning post, but I feel inspired to chuck out all of my stuff (well, okay, some of it) and start fresh.
I'm glad you're doing okay *hugs*

Date: 2009-03-22 06:57 pm (UTC)New fic tomorrow or later today, I hope. Whee!
Ooh, I love the slice of life stuff. (In fact, that's what my next fic is.) You could write drabbles. Or something. :)
Springtime! Has the snow melted there? It's the green season, with ltos of flowers at the moment, for me. I'm loving it.

Oh, Spring. I think it's *finally* here. My garden is looking gorgeous and all the flowers are coming out and it's all good. But it's certainly taken its time!
