Answer these questions about 3 of my favourite shows:
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think that you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fan fiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
Harry Potter
1. Well, I loved the books, of course. I liked the balance between the magical world and the ordinary, and the characters really drew me in. As for fandom, I was originally sucked in by Harry/Draco. They bicker so much in the books that I was thrilled to find that turn into sexual tension as older teens. What can I say, I think the I-hate-you-but-want-to-fuck-you dynamic is hot. ;)
2. Oh, I move on. And I come back. At least twice now. Never say never, but the last book really disappointed me and most of the characters I liked were slaughtered. So who knows?
3. Prisoner of Azkaban is my hands-down favorite, with Half-Blood Prince a close second.
4. I wrote but didn't participate much. I was pretty intimidated by the massive cliques and felt very late to the party, even though I found the fandom in 2002. In general, my fandom-MO is to write but not get too involved. I'd love more fans and friends, but I'd rather avoid the flames.
5. Given that I think it's still the largest fandom *ever*, I'd have to say no. ;)
Lotrips
1. Actually, I got into Lotrips in a roundabout way. I was stunned that that hot guy who played Will Turner in POTC was the poncy elf in LOTR. I loved Viggo as Aragorn, and all the behind the scenes stuff made it seem fairly clear to me at the time that the two of them might be mroe than BFFs. And since that was fun to think about, I started writing about it, too. It took me a bit to get over the ick-factor of real person slash, but once I decided I was just using the boys like Barbie dolls to tell my stories, I stopped feeling badly about it at all.
2. I've moved on, pretty much entirely.
3. I love the outtakes from the first movie, where the boys all seem like they're going to be best friends and lovers for the rest of their lives. They had such a good time and it's a delight to watch them all together.
4. I wrote, I met people, I tinhatted a bit. I tried not to get into flames. ;)
5. Not really - it's almost a decade old now!
Supernatural
1. I needed something new and shiny, and SPN piqued my interest. I've read some FPS but mostly I'm all about J2 (or J3, with Jeff). I like the characters a lot, but I'm also impressed with the story telling (even when I think they're making mistakes), the filmograhpy (which I generally think is amazing),and the acting. I like the world they're created, the way I can ponder what it's like to be Dean, in the same way I used to ponder what it was like to be Remus Lupin.
2. Oh, I think I'm too fickle to stay with anything "forever." I'm 35 - "forever" is a damn long time. ;)
3. It's difficult to choose favorites. I really enjoyed the season finale/start between 1 and 2. I like most of the funny eps. I adore Ben Edlund.
4. I write, I squee, I try not to get too involved. I find it a huge turn-off when a fandom gets too crazy.
5. *shrug* The people I love should get into it so they can share my joy. Otherwise, whatever floats your boat, man.
If you'd like to, you can comment and I'll pick three fandoms for you to talk about.
