So I'm writing a thing that's eventually going to grow up to be novel #2. It's Stargate Atlantis, John/Rodney, but AU and I'm not sure if I should post it or... not. If I do, I'm pretty much only going to do it here, locked to a small group.

Would anyone be interested in reading as I go along? Because (duh) I like the encouragement of people reading and nudging me, but I'm not actively in the fandom and don't plan to be. So I'm a little uncertain. People do things like have Big Bang preview groups and stuff though, right? This might not be too different?

If you want in on this filtered group, let me know.

I'm not in that fandom either, although I have read several AU fics by someone on my Friends list.

And your writing's always good, no matter the pairing . . . so yes, please, would you count me in?

*hug*

You're pretty much the only person I'll read non-my OTP fic from. So if you want, I'll read, and probably even leave a few comments

*smooch* I would appreciate any of your thoughts. Right now I'm struggling with how much exposition is too much, and who wants the POV to be his. Muses need to get themselves in order, damnit. ;)

YES TIMES ONE ZILLION

I absolutely *love* this sort of thing! Be sure to say what kind of feedback/concrit you want along the way -- I am a full-service beta/audience operation.

:) Thank you! I've never done something like this before so I'm not sure yet what I want. Once I get the first chapter "finished" and post it, it will probably along the lines of simply pointing out when something doesn't make sense or just doesn't work.

Thank you! I'm trying to keep their characters intact, yet also sort of make them my own without shoe-horning them in. You will have to let me know how well it works. ;)

I really like John. I have some doubts about Rodney, but at least I don't hate in as when he appeared in SG1.

hmm... I'm not in the fandom, but, then again, I've pretty much enjoyed everything of yours I've read. Might be helpful to have folks who are not as familiar with the 'genre'.

I'm looking for some guidance on how to be published, recommended from sirkeyem.. any thoughts on how I should publish a collection of poetry? I would really appreciate any thoughts.

Well, I self-published a book in 2008 through a friend who owns a publishing company, which prints with lightningcourse.com - or you could use lulu.com, or createspace.com, etc. I just did a quick search and found the following pages which might of interest, comparing the different self-printing companies:

http://www.neilslade.com/myown3.html
http://llbookreview.com/2009/06/how-does-lightning-source-compare-to-lulu-and-createspace/
http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81340

I suspect there are cheaper/better ways to publish something small like a poetry chapbook - that's more of a printing job than a publishing though, so it depends on what your end goal is. Do you want something for retail in local bookstores? Something nice to give to friends and family? Are you interested in self-marketing (which it turns out was my personal downfall)? Are you hoping to make money or do you just want something professional-looking on your bookshelf?

I'm happy to answer any questions I can, or steer you toward any resources I might have. :)

I'm looking to make this part of my career. I want something in retail stores. I know it's a shot in the dark, but that's what I'm looking for.

Excellent! It's totally doable - I think all of the DIY self-pubs have very detailed instructions. Some even have marketing services, for extra money. And there's a lot of information on the internet. Good luck!

I'd love to be able to read this. I actually enjoy fanfiction written in fandoms I don't know much about because they end up reading as original stories.
