OK, so I had another one of my wacky ideas and I'm just going with it: I want to do a road trip/book tour this spring. In April or May, probably.

I think I'll drive down to LA, stop and see my mom in Arizona, maybe head out to Texas, across the South to Florida, up to New York, and back across the Midwest to Chicago, to Seattle and down through Oregon back home.

Something that would make this actually feasible would be the possibility of staying with friends rather than paying for motels for two or three weeks. So if you know me fairly well and feel like it might be fun to have a houseguest for no more than two nights (I'm very tidy and I cook!), I'd love to combine some friend-visiting into my plans. I have several f-list friends I've met in person who can vouch for me not being a serial-killer or unduly pervy in non-pervy settings (i.e. I'm child-proof. Spouse- and parent-proof, too.)

Anyone? I can even bring an air mattress and my own pillow. ;)

Let me know ASAP if you're interested in hooking up so I can start seeing what bookstores are in what areas and if they'd be willing to carry my book/do an author signing/workshop.

Thanks!

(x-posted everywhere I go; sorry if you get inundated)

That's quite a road trip! I may be in that swathe or not depending on a job possibility. E-mail me and I'll let you know specifics.

That's odd, you should be able to see my profile page. I think my email is only available to friends so you need to be logged in.

I'm in North Carolina and you're welcome to stay with me. The closes big town is Asheville, about an hour away, but we're only a day trip away from Chattanooga, Tennessee or Knoxville, Tennessee as well. :D

I replied elsewhere, but I don't want you to miss the offer - I'm in Woodinville, WA, near Seattle.

You're more than welcome to stay here. We have a guest room and guest bath. However, we have two kids, two cats, three guinea pigs, and an occasional dog.

*hugs*

Man, you know what? I am actually moving to Sacramento in the first week of April! If only you were in the Seattle area before April 5-7!

But honestly, on a more serious subject, I'm so terribly sorry for slacking so much on the book thing. I really do want to get your book in my store, my mind has just kinda been everywhere lately, and... well, I don't really have a good excuse. I've talked to my boss about it, she's interested, but I haven't done any follow ups with her lately.

I will be talking with her sometime tomorrow (Wednesday), so let me ask her about that then. Then when you guys get a hold of each other, you can talk about maybe doing a workshop of some point! We don't often do workshops, but if we got the word out soon enough, I think that this could be a win-win situation for us all!

Hopefully I'll have a phone number to pass along to you tomorrow.

Oh cool! I'm in Sacto a few times a year, since my in-laws live there. I'll finally get to meet you, I hope. :)

No problem about the delay on the book - I haven't eben as proactive as I'd like on contacting people. I'd be grateful for any info you have though, and can send a sample copy at any time.

I have a way comfy couch and there are 2 B&N and 3 Borders withing 5 miles of me, even more a little further out. Plus there's Women & Children First Bookstore, which would be a way cool venue.

The first two I've been to and like a lot. Tulip I've heard about, but don't recall going into, but I may have done on one of our Halstead St. crawls. Both Early To Bed and Tulip offer seminars, so they would probably be a very good fit.

Wow, you seriously did read my whole blog, didn't you? I must have awesome guilt-inspiring powers.

Maybe I will go North first, steal s_b and bring her to you. Can I have a reward if I do that? *wiggles eyebrows* ;)

Yes - I've been desperately trying to get caught up on flist-iness and failing in an epic manner, but this is the end of reading week, so I didn't have six lectures to listen to, and four articles to read, and a book to review and a paper to write, so I'm actually not failing so much!

And no guilt at all - merely an excellent suggestion of a way to spend some free time. (Also, the Dwarf has been sporadically emplyed the last couple of weeks, and that makes it even harder for me to get things done, but he's at work today and this evening.)

You cannot even imagine the reward. It would involve ridiculous amounts of lube...
